This is legally registered here in the US? I thought it would need to be 25 years old to be imported and registered..

Yes the car is legally registered, the car was imported in 2002 when the laws were very different. I have a clean Colorado title in my name for this vehicle.

Calling bull on this one.

I have been around here for a long time. Got to drive one of the Evo VII's from them (almost put $25k down for one), and these were not registered under "very different" laws. The most popular method of registering they used was VIN swapping. Not saying yours took that route, but that was the typical method.

There are a ton of posts on here about them, and other forums as well.

I also would like to see proof on this one. Also a token old guy on this Forum and I have seen some issues. Likely no problem if the vehicle stays in Colorado and nobody looks into it but I bet if the VIN was run and compared to the original import documents there would be some inconsistencies.

I also remember EI’s shenanigans from just before the VIII’s hit our shores in ‘03

Anyway I just checked the VIN on multiple sites, my states DOT included (not valid), it won’t decode on EVOm’s VIN Decoder nor on Been Verified account we have for the month both also show the VIN as invalid, my last CarFax subscription expired.

gimmiethevin states VIN cannot be found.

At least the vehicle has not a VIN swap job per the VIN posted buy the seller anyway. I know for sure I could not get it registered in my state, heck with our DMV the Governor himself couldn’t get them to register the car for our roads. Not to mention insurance companies.

It’s a nice car though OP. GLWS.

At this point if I were to import one for the AYC and Antilag to have as a low mileage collector. I’ll hold out 10 more yrs for a IX FQ300-FQ340, luckily have a good amount of friends in the UK that have 10yrs to find me one!! 😆
