Description:
Posting up a feeler for my car.
Located in River Edge, NJ - bring a trailer or tow
History, the bad and ugly:
I'm the second owner purchased in 2011 with around 89k miles with a bunch of issues. Car has 2 accident history, 1 was previous owner (front passenger corner had minor damage), 1 was me when I ran over some dead deer/moose on a dark rural road. Had to replace front bumper, intercooler, radiator, oil pan and plug/sensor (sensor wire is cut).
Fixed most issues and used as a daily for about 8 years and now sits around 190k. The last few years since covid (2019-2020), the car mostly sat in my garage.
Last week as I was driving up my street I pressed the clutch and heard a little pop and the pedal didn't come back up.
I checked the lines and slave cylinder but no leaks and nothing spilled on the ground. I pulled the pedal back up and now when I press it, it comes back about half way, but won't engage the clutch to switch gears.
This leads me to suspect the throw out bearing, but in any case the trans needs a rebuild. Gears 2 and 3 definitely need new synchros so might as well rebuild or swap out at this point.
Engine runs fine and was tuned by Iveytune to 330whp at 24psi around 92k miles.
Mods after that tune were ETS intercooler, dw 800c injectors, dw 255lph fuel pump, spoolin up cop kit
I've since then reflashed the ecu with tephra v7 while adjusting the fuel trims/battery voltage for the new injectors.
- Car is rusty - driver side rear quarter panel by the door opening, inside rear door window split (not sure how it started rusting there), engine bay bolt points you can see some rust coming through.
- Needs rust restoration and new paint
- some door dings but no major body work needed.
- Needs new body kit, pieces are scratched
- ACD pump needs rebuild - I never got to this
- Ever since I've had the car I've had an intermittent no start issue. I've tried everything and could not figure it out.
Replaced starter, cam angle sensor, checked the relay, replaced ignition switch twice, new battery, disabled clutch sensor, still doesn't always start. I've had to push start in gear and pop the clutch.
- During the fuel pump install, the mechanic stripped one of the studs for the cover plate and cut it and re-welded another stud, but while doing that I believe he was hammering on the tank to get it out and cracked it somewhere near the top. Now if I fill gas to full, it has a slow leak somewhere around the 4/5 mark so I never fill full anymore.
