I have a thread in the Show/Shine forum about some collision repair I need done. Me vs. pole in the parking garage and I tried to avoid Me vs. SUV parking. Ugh.

Anyway, I got an estimate from Quality Auto Body in Fairfax for $1300. They did a great job for me last time (bumper replace), but that was on someone else's insurance.

The job is a replace right rear door panel, bang out small dents in the door jamb/rear fender, and buff out a scratch in the plastic kick panel. Then paint the whole repair area.

I'm also kicking around the idea of replacing the whole door (so far I can only find a red one salvage), or trying to replace the door panel myself to save a couple hundred bucks.

But if any of you know of a good body shop not too far from Fairfax that might cut me a deal, I'd appreciate it.

If you want to go into Manassas... Mastercraft does EXCELLENT work. They'd probably be just as expensive as Quality

Thanks guys. I will give some of those a call. I also have a friend who works at a Lexus body shop, but his "deal" is that he works on his free time and it might take several weeks. Yikes.

Dulles Auto Body right next to VIP Garage is great! Very reasonable prices too.

 

I decided to go through insurance. only $500 out of pocket. They assured me b/c my wife and I have bank accounts, multiple cars, investments, and a 16 year clean history with them (USAA) that the rates won't go up much at all, especially for a non-liability minor accident.

Mastercraft was on their list, so I'm taking it out there next tuesday.
