That really sucks that you're not going to get any aftermarket parts out of the deal. At least you'll get your car back though.

DUDE BE SMART take it to a tuner shop that works on evo's and have them work through the insurance company you can have your car fixed and upgraded. Yeah the stock headlights are expensive, but you can get after market for $700? and take the remaining funds and put down on something else!! stock roof is $800 unfinished, add painting and finnishing, and you can get a CF roof for the same price. There is so much you can do, Like radiator you can upgrade to an after market, intercooler, front bumper, and add a front lip. But you have to do this through a shop that's recognized by the insurance company!! Man I upgraded everything when after I hit a deer.

Damn I would negotiate and get that much in a check, and buy aftermarket parts.

That's what I did.

Wow that sucks man , couldnt your insurance just cut you a check for that amount? You could fix it yourself for less than half that and have a bunch of mod money left...

yeah some guy's just don't know. If it was the other guy's insurance they probably would have cut him a check. With it being his own insuance company they probably will reqire one of their certified shops to repair it. If you can find a tuner shop that's certified by the insurance company. Then your Golden and can usually work out some things between them and you, as long as it is back to fully operational like before the accident they don't care.

I have known people to intentionally have accidents to get over. But in your case it was a legit accident so as long as your car has a hood, and it cost the insurance no more than a stock hood you may as well go CF!

Since it was my fault my insurance has a list of places i can take it to so i called around because i hadnt heard of any of the shops, the shop i chose was like yeah we can work with you and they have aftermarket parts in their database so i told him all the stuff i wanted and then he called me and said he may be able to get the black headlights but that may be it, cf hood and upgraded intercooler and radiator is a slim chance but of course when i dropped it off he was all about getting like a greddy intercooler or something. I was also trying to get a 9 bumper or a lip...most of the stuff should be available through mitsu other than hood intercooler and radiator so ive still got my fingers crossed. Dont know if it matters but my insurance company is the same company i have my loan through for the car

That sounds like USAA. Well I'm glad that the shop may be able to help you out. Is the shop covering your deductable? Well yeah you should be able to get the IX front bumper if you want. A stock VIII bumper from mitsubishi is like $1,500, but you get the Fiberglass IX which is lighter, It'll cost about $900. So then you have $600 left over you can put tword something else. My Brother get's into accidents all the time, and usually gets a deal! BTW he has USAA. You really should be able to get everything upgraded, the mitsu parts usually cost more than aftermarket, and the insurance adjuster usually dosen't care as long as your car is fixed, your happy, and you didn't go over what they wanted to pay out.

Now that I think about it, when I got rearended, the dealership was willing to order parts of any website that I chose. When I was talking to them during the estimate I basically sat at his desk and showed him what I wanted and he put it on the estimate. You might be able to do the same.

No No No that was the other persons insurance company that's why they had to cover whatever their insured person damaged on your vehicle.

This is his fault, and his insurance company will not pay out like that. They will fix his car back to stock the way they originally insured it. But they will pay for whatever the other guy had damaged say if he had a CF diffuser, they would have to replace it, or pay for it.

But a good shop can purchase non OEM parts if they are less expensive then the Mitsubishi OEM. As long as the car is back in it's origional condition. Usually the Mitsubishi OEM parts are soooooo expensive, you can upgrade lot's for under the cost the insurance pays for the OEM parts.

That's what I was saying. Any shop should be able to order any parts he wants, assuming they're cheaper, and I'm sure the insurance company would be more than willing to pay a smaller bill. Its a win win situation.

yeah

If the certified shop is willing to swap out the parts that's on them but sometimes they get scared thinking there is some type of fraud that they are committing. Remember most shops replace back to stock using oem everything. They just don't know. Heck if you needed the whole front of the car repainted after the repairs are done technically you could have that done a different color, as long as it cost the same or cheaper then what the insurance gave the shop.

This is from my experience.
