Reputable dealers in Northern VA
Reputable dealers in Northern VA?
Hey guys! I'm moving up to Northern VA (Woodbridge) next week, and it looks like I can finally afford to get my dream Evo with my new job. My question is, who is a good dealer to go to? I'm hoping I can go in and reserve a 2012 (gives me a little time to build some money for a down payment as well), but I don't know where to start when it comes to buying a new car. Malloy's is right down the road, and I've heard decent things about Stohlman's. I could go as far north as Maryland, but I'd rather keep it in state if possible.
Also, would it be a bad idea to just go in the dealership, and talk with someone about my future purchase? Would they be offended if I told them "Not now, but very soon?". Any and all help is appreciated, and I look forward to joining this awesome community.

Moore Mitsubishi in Chantilly gets my vote. The guys there are cool, the sales manager has an evo, and his brother is a lead mitsu tech there.
Whatever you do, stay the hell away from Stohlman in Tysons Corner. Bunch of idiotic crooks.

This should explain a lot about Stohlman: http://forums.dcevoclub.com/showthre...ycott-Stohlman!
When you are ready to buy, just call around and find who has what you want and who is willing to give the best price. I live in NoVA but bought our X from Colonial Mitsu in Charlottesville. I got my VIII from Stohlman, but they were matching a price from a dealer in Maryland. You don't have to take your car back to the dealer where you bought it, so it really doesn't matter where you buy.

**EDIT - Just got back from Malloy, and they only had 1 OB Evo. Wasn't planning on buying today anyways, but I figured they might have at least 2 or 3 in shop. The guy I was talking to said they had a WW, but that was sold the day it came in! Anyways, I'm not sure how I feel about the dealer, they seemed pretty pressed to sell the car today. $33G after $3,000 "special" for the weekend. It was a base Evo with an Aero kit. The salesman didn't seem to know much about Evos, or cars in general as he said he has only been there about a month. Not his fault, but he was the Mitsu "specialist".
After looking (and drooling) over the car, I kindly asked him about how to reserve a 2012 with the options I wanted. He immediately went to his manager to ask how to do so. Manager came back and told me that Mitsu is not making any 2012's or possibly 2013's, but that they would just produce more 2011's until they sold out. I call BS on MANY reasons. I told him I wasn't looking to buy a car until Nov or Dec, and he said that he could do a search in the area to see what was around, and would be able to trade cars with a dealership, or possibly place an order to Mitsu to build it (again, strange if they are only making so many 2011s...).
Overall, kind of a shady experience. I know salesmen will make up things to get the sale, but telling me that a model car won't be produced for up to 3 years is a bit much. I'll see if I can take a look in to Moore's when I get off work one day this week and share that experience.

I would just wait until you are ready to buy. Any dealer can get any car from another dealer through a "locate," unless you get too specific with the dealer that has the car you want, in which case they can hold it from other dealers. So, negotiate price with all of the dealers and then get the car you want at the dealer that has it (or have it moved to the dealer that you prefer to work with). I see no advantage to "reserving" a car where there will be ample supply. If you were buying a limited production car, then you need to get in line, but that's not going to be the case with a slow seller like the Evo.
I look forward to doing business with them in the future.
^ Yes definitely the right choice! I got my evo in Manassas from a small dealer but I always go to Moore Mitsubishi to chat and get maintenance done. The day I went in to look at the new 2011 WW Evo they just got in, the sales manager bought it! haha. Unlucky me but I found a great deal on a used 08 with all the options I wanted so I'm happy.
The guys at Moore are all real down to earth and just enjoy talking about cars and the Evo. I've only had some small routine things done there but the shop is still coming along. I live like 10-15 minutes away from them so they are my ideal spot for Mitsu dealers out of all the ones in the NoVa area. When I first started going there to see their evos, most of them didn't know what they were talking about, but thats right when they opened so I'm sure its alot better by now.

I remember when I was buying my Evo VIII I first went to Stohlman and the saleswoman patted me on the ***. Was that supposed to make me buy a car *****?
They also wanted above MSRP. I ended up going to the now closed down dealership in Manassas.

I bought mine at moore, sales manager was awesome and the two sales guys were just as good. Theyre fair and are very genuine. Made me feel great about my purchase and It almost seemed like they were sad to let the car go. Great people!!!

I got mine from Shirley Slack Mitsubishi in Fredericksburg, Va. Really good people and are willing to negotiate on price. They sell tons of Evo's too. I think right now they have 5 new ones on the lot, but they usually sell them pretty quick.
Anyone had any service done with them? I ahd them do my SST flush with SSP Pro Gold Fluid. The service guy was happy to do it and gave me no issues about using a "aftermarket" fluid.
