Wants to Race but Needs Help - VIR / NASA / Ect.
Located in the Richmond, Va area and am looking to get into some form of racing other then the drag strip. I would like to do some form of dirt racing but the closest track I can find is in WVa so have been looking more closely at what VIR has to offer but the event calender is hard to read and I just dont know how it all works. I'm looking for someone who can give me a hand and can explain the events, the classes, and how to get properly setup so I can start into some thing. Some one with some experience who can answer some questions and point me in the right direction.
Thanks and I appreciate it.
Also... if anyone knows of any local dirt tracks please feel free and let me know. Even if there just something to practice on, just looking to have some weekend fun.

Try and contact Phil at Element Tuning in Gaithersburg, MD. He does a lot of Subaru's but races in Time Attack I believe and other road course event. I am sure he could use some free help at the track and you will also gain a lot of knowledge that way aswell.

If you're looking to get your feet wet at any beginners events, Richmond's Virginia Motor Sports Club can help you. Matter of fact, they have a autox school happening on July 28/29. Signed up fast though if you want to join the school because it sells out quick and is limited to 30 entries, I believe. The 28 is the school and the 29 is competition. July 29 is not limited to number of entrants for competition. Very friendly group.

Thanks again 4B11AWD...
The school on the 28th was awesome and the turn out on the 29th was impressive. I'm already signed up for the next event and i think i just found my new past time. Big thanks!

Decided to drive my OZ-Rally, so i could just have fun and not worry about tearing anything up. I may even stick with the platform for awhile and bring my evo in later on down the road after i get some good seat time in the sport.

^ He actually linked you to the autox race on Sunday.
Here's the link to the practice on Saturday. I assume you're trying to get as much seat time as you can to dial in your set up for Nationals.

Just realized there are TWO Richmond events on 8-26 - VMSC at RIR and NASA @ VMP. I switched to the NASA event - car is not really set up for NASA-X ("A" class - yikes) but it's just seat time so that's okay.
