Spec-Ops Motorsports Tune Day in Fairfax, VA on February 26th
 

We have been talking/pming with a customer who made the long drive to one of our previous tuning days in Chesapeake, VA. So, after others have seen his results on the track, there has been interest in us making a tuning trip up to Fairfax, VA. We appreciate Mr. Sanchez helping us get the details worked out with the dyno and making this our 5th tuning trip to VA!

Also, we have a FREE SET OF CAMS for a customer with an Evo 8 that wants tuned. These cams are a new grind from a company that is looking for testing/comparison to be done. Please pm for more details if you have an Evo 8 and are interested!

Here are the details for the tuning day:

When: February 26th, 2011 (Can also do the 27th if we have more people interested)

Where: Moore Automotive
9776 Lee Highway, Fairfax, VA 22031

What: Spec-Ops Tuning Day

Dyno: Dynojet 424xlc2

Cost: $400 and includes 1 hour of dyno time, $375 for military and includes 1 hour of dyno time. Please make a deposit of $150 for your timeslot by paypal to specopsmotorsports@gmail.com OR you can call me at the number in my sig and make payment with a CC.

I will start the list and timeslots for February 26th. If the list gets full, we do have the option to continue tuning cars on February 27th.

We will be bringing parts with us that are easy to replace and will improve the performance of your car such as Walbro fuel pumps, Hallman Pro MBC's, Spark Plugs, etc. Please prep your Evo before we get there! I can't stress enough how important this is. For us to get the best results out of your car, please do/have the following:

*A good boost controller and BOV (if you have a question if yours is good or not, PM me)*
*New set of spark plugs*
*Boost leak test*
*Make sure all clamps are tightned properly and serviceable on your intercooler piping/intercooler*
*Fix all exhaust leaks*

Hey guys, I may be out of town skiing that weekend, but im in the NoVa area and may have to come out and check everything out. I do not need a tune for a few more thousand miles, but have heard great things about your operation and would be interested in meeting some of you guys in person. The fact that your in the armed forces is even better in my book {thumbup}

currently Corey from atlantic is the only one who touches my car, but be nice to meet some new guys and see some awesome dyno pulls! hopefully I can make the trip out. Have a safe trip up, look forward to meeting you guys soon!

I did speak with Chad after we talked, and am just going to plan on getting the CBRD turbo and FMIC from them, as well as having them do a Pro Tune for my Cobb AP after I get the mods installed.

I'm tempted to get mine tuned. I have a Evo 8 and I haven't installed but I have a manual boost control, invidia turbo manifold, a vibrant turbo back exhaust, lower ICP and debating about installing either my Evo 9 MR BOV or the Greddy BOV. Do you have an Evo 8 for the cam test?

I'm tenative for saturday, but work schedule isnt out yet.

We do as Mr. Dube stepped up first. If something falls through, it'd be nice to have someone as a backup for the testing! I'd say get the Synapse BOV or the EVO 9 stock bov. Let us know if you'd liked tuned{thumbup}

Still debating if i should use meth on my car. I have heard good and bad things about it..Any input guys?...

too dangerous if thats your daily car, if you got the money to back it up if something happens go head. That just my 02. cents

It depends on the kit and tuner :)

I have had great experiences with it. Doesn't matter if its your daily or anything else. Its all about how the kit is set up and how it is tuned.

What size nozzles did you go with ? it looks to me like the kit is not a progressive kit. It basically looks like its an instant on max spray type....

Yes... but you dont really need it. You are on a built everything :)

I can run 30 psi or more on your block all day with no issues. Given, it will reduce intake temps, i can get away with running the car more aggressively..... IMHO, with your build, i wouldnt do it.

Wonder how the IT will be since im also with a 3.5 ets intercooler and piping..whats the best mix you have seen on the evos jason 70/30 or 50/50?

I run a mix of windshield washer fluid and VP imports M1 Methanol. It comes out to about 70/30 ish. I do that for a few reasons. The major being i can actually see the color of the meth in my tank so i can monitor fluid levels in case the low fluid sensor fails.

I dont like 100% mixtures completely because you get the cooling effects from the H2O that strait meth doesn't provide in my opinion. I have tuned many setups on practically every combo. I have always found that my preference, for the way i tune and how i like to run the car is that mixture.

Wonder if i will break 400awhp with all the goodies you guys are bringing me and meth :D

Leak test Leak Test LEAK TEST !!! :)

New plugs, gapped correctly, oil change if needed, parts installed and verified, make sure the car is in a good running order. If all that is good.... then the tune will go great. If we are forced to troubleshoot then it changes things.

Gettin closer fellas. We're leaving here Thursday to head out on our road trip. Making a stop in Chesapeake, VA to do some cam testing and then staying the night Friday in Fairfax. Looking forward to the trip!

Finally got my bumper back on after I put on my new intercooler.. Gotta adjust the screen mesh where the intercooler is though... Hoping I can finish it up tomorrow.. I did a run to see if anything was leaking, held boost so no problems with my current setup. Let's hope it holds up.

It'll be fine.

The bumper won't go on because of a peice of metal hitting the intercooler and I can't rip it off with pliers. Think it would be ok not to have it on when you dyno it? The mesh piece will be in the car if you have any free time or ask keenan if he can cut the metal piece off.. I can epoxy it back on, the bottom part of the mesh on the bumper screws in.
