Metro Mitsubishi - Bloomington, MN
Its black. The next time I plan to have it out will be when I take it to RS Motors (they moved to Burnsville) to dyno tune the car with the new head and other parts. Last time out it hit about 300 WHP uncorrected in 4th gear. I'm hoping I can squeak 350 out (corrected), but 340 is probably a more reasonable goal for 93 octane. Their Mustang dyno was placing stock Evos at about 200 - 210 (with a correction factor).
Once it's tuned I'd probably be open to showing the car.
I know about mnsportcompactcar.net, and am registered there as Evo8 (or at least was - I haven't logged on there in a few months). I'm also pretty easy to find on the AARRF forums (All American Road Racing Federation) at aarrf.com as Evo8.

I know of a couple of local Evo owners who are using "through the mail" reflashes with good results. I believe there are also a couple of local cars with custom tunes by Al (Dynoflash) running around from a Chicago visit. When I first installed my XEDE, I was using the Stage one maps off of Vishnu's site with great results; even with only those three upgrades the car was transformed.
After I put in the Piper cams, I set up a dyno day in Chicago with Shiv, and had my car tuned there. After getting back I did some more work on the cam gear settings using the dyno at RS Motors. I also made some minor adjustments to Shiv's maps while I was there; Shiv didn't have time to test and set the cam gears in Chicago (he had never worked on a car with Pipers) but he did get the car dialed in with a top notch base tune. He also suggested a few things for after I tweaked the cam gears and got back on a dyno. Eventually I plan to have my car re-tuned by Shiv, but I need to stop adding engine parts first.
I know that Ron at RS Motors had someone in for dyno time with an Evo RS in that is running a GT-35R(?) conversion with an AEM EMS for engine management, but I'm not sure who did the tuning. I know the RS Motors guys recently turned out a 3000 GT that's putting over 400 to the wheels, and I haven't heard any complaints about their work. I can't remember the exact rate for dyno time at RS so I won't say anything. Their new number is 952-707-0100 if you need it.
If you definitely want someone with solid Evo experience, AMS is in Chicago is another possible choice. They seem to put out solid cars and have happy customers.

I haven't worked with elite before, and don't really know anything about them. I started working with RS because I got to know some of the guys through AARRF (a track event group) and they were getting an AWD dyno.
I've been working with Noah at SpeedLab to get the suspension set up correctly. He has good experience in motorsports and racing, and his shop has the right tools for that kind of work. Another plus is that SpeedLab has an Evo, and they're very familiar with the car.

Where is the shop speedlab at anyways, probably be heading out there spring time for some installations.

Im getting cams here in the next month and maybe a few more things on top of my basics 3inch exhaust, boost cont., intake ecu flash and act clutch. Those are my mods. Hey Eroishi where did you get your head ported ? I cant wait to hit up the road course next year after that ride in your car, im pumped.
The number for SpeedLab is 952-931-9595. The shop is located in an "auto mall" in Hopkins. Call the shop and ask for directions, it's the best way to find them.
I'm glad to see the track bug has bit you; I can't think of any better way to really enjoy an Evo. Right now, it looks like there will be track time available on May 12th, August 4th and September 14th at BIR. The events will be a mix of driving school and open track time; let me know if you need more info. The BIR events are amazing; there is nothing like unleashing your car on a track that's big enough to let it run.
The head porting story has been a real nightmare. When I put the Piper Rally cams in my car last spring and replaced the valve springs and retainers, I messed up on three of the keepers. It's my fault for using a "budget" spring compressor that couldn't keep the valve springs properly compressed while I replaced the keepers for the valve spring retainers.
I found out about the problem when I started to have compression problems last August. I pulled the head and found three broken valve springs. It looked to me like the inner and outer springs (dual coil) were rubbing or there was some other kind of interference problem. I sent the head to Mark at Quantum Racing, which is where I purchased the cams and springs from. It was his tech who diagnosed the problem back to the keepers; after considering everything it made sense.
As long as the head was out of the car I planed to have it swaped with a Stage 5++ from BJ's Cylinder Heads through Mark at Quantum. After literally months of waiting for BJ's to produce a head, Mark suggested another shop he's worked with. I said OK, and that shop is actually getting the head done; it should be back in my hands next week. I did consider having Bushur port the head, but when I checked, they had a backlog of about 3 or 4 moths (if I remember correctly).
Now that the head is done I'll need to have the exhaust manifold worked over. I'm also going to add at least a 10.5 hot side. I guess that will depend on what we find out about the new turbo mod Dave Bushur is working on.
We'll have to compare cars once they are both on the road again.

I've been in Raced's car and his flash really hits hard; especially at lower RPMs. The flash (and his exhaust, etc.) felt about the same to me as my car when it was tuned with a Vishnu Stage one kit minus the cam gears. A decent low-end kick followed by lots of power.
So is anyone else here interested in hitting BIR on the 12th of May? The event will probably cost about $170 or so and you'll get an amazing amount of track time. I know I spent over 3 full hours on the track last time out.
One run I went out with a full tank and came back in at 1/4...

Hey guys.
Know I'm a little late but here's my 2c. If you mention to any Mitsu dealers around here that you're a Club DSM member, they'll usually honor a 20% discount on all parts. Most of you are probably getting that anyways but thought I'd spread the word.
Erioshi, sounds like you've been busy! BIR sounds fun, is that drag or circular that weekend?
