Milwaukee - America's Drunkest Evo Owners
Well I have some news...not the best but it's what works for me.
I am not going to be continuing at the job that I took. It seems that they weren't very up front with me about the amount of responsibility and amount of international travel.
So orientation went well the first couple hours but then they introduced me to the department. I did know they run lean but I was under the impression that another person did my job as well, but that was not the case. I was the sole network/server admin for a 900 person company with 60+ servers 24/hrs a day world wide. They just figured I would come in and fix everything...they didn't even have documentation on where their fiber runs were going in the building.
They also informed me that I would be traveling to install equipment in the other offices in such great countries such as China(sorry Pete
), Singapore, 3 cities in India, and the Czech Republic. That was never mentioned in the interview, what I was told in the interview was that they had contractors do all the international support.
So I decided to cut ties right away. I don't appreciate the bait and switch.

sucks to hear mike. you definitely did the right thing and cut ties immediately. i bet it was a pain to go through all that moving and such, only to be let down with that opportunity. hopefully things look up!!
I agree, sorry to hear about the job but i think you did the right thing. Just sh1tty you had to go through everything you did BEFORE you found out what the real story was.
Just remember EVERYTHING Happens for a reason!

LOL, thanks everyone. At least I know that I'm not being unreasonable. They were obviously shocked but I told them that they didn't tell me that in the interview. They said that is because if it happens it's only once and a great while. I told them I will NEVER go to India or Czech Republic regardless of how infrequent it is.
I told them that if something is a possibility it needs to be put as a requirement in the job description...especially something as big as world wide travel.

I hate those bastards.......if you want to hate them as much as I do, just try to call customer service or tech support.

Sorry to hear Laak. Good for you for sticking up for yourself though.
Though I would love to travel to the places you mentioned, the workload itself sounded bad to me, though again I have no idea what computer work entails.
