Well I have some news...not the best but it's what works for me.

I am not going to be continuing at the job that I took. It seems that they weren't very up front with me about the amount of responsibility and amount of international travel.

So orientation went well the first couple hours but then they introduced me to the department. I did know they run lean but I was under the impression that another person did my job as well, but that was not the case. I was the sole network/server admin for a 900 person company with 60+ servers 24/hrs a day world wide. They just figured I would come in and fix everything...they didn't even have documentation on where their fiber runs were going in the building.

They also informed me that I would be traveling to install equipment in the other offices in such great countries such as China(sorry Pete ), Singapore, 3 cities in India, and the Czech Republic. That was never mentioned in the interview, what I was told in the interview was that they had contractors do all the international support.

So I decided to cut ties right away. I don't appreciate the bait and switch.

sorry to hear about your job. At least you don't have much to move. Only the Xbox and stuff from BestBuy.

LOL, thanks everyone. At least I know that I'm not being unreasonable. They were obviously shocked but I told them that they didn't tell me that in the interview. They said that is because if it happens it's only once and a great while. I told them I will NEVER go to India or Czech Republic regardless of how infrequent it is.

I told them that if something is a possibility it needs to be put as a requirement in the job description...especially something as big as world wide travel.

Sucks to hear about that Laak.

I spent a week in the Czech Republic a few years ago. It's a wonderful place. Prague is a fantastic city.

I hate those bastards.......if you want to hate them as much as I do, just try to call customer service or tech support.

But Mike, just think how cool it would look to see all those places on the map of "My Travels" in your signature......

Sorry to hear Laak. Good for you for sticking up for yourself though.

Though I would love to travel to the places you mentioned, the workload itself sounded bad to me, though again I have no idea what computer work entails.
