backed out from buying 2003 evo VIII
I put money down on 2003 evo, but backed out - i feel i may be a little bit to old for this vechicle. I'm 48 years old with two sons that are 21 and 18 years old. They both seen the car but they're really not interested in fast hot cars. It seems like most people who own this car are younger. The cost of the car was 24.000 out the door. The car had no mods, and had 16,000 miles. Yellow with stickers all over it. Let me know what you think. Thanks Steve
yeah, I wouldn't recommend buying that car...it was from some shop I believe.....I guarantee that car has been beat on, I know I personally test drove it about a month and a half ago, and the clutch was slipping. My guess was that it was a project car that was returned relatively to stock with the exception of the turbo timer and all those stickers...I bet you could find a better deal on a better car. Also, that thing is damn ugly.
48 and you think you're too old? My dad is in his mid-40s and he has an extremly race-prepped S2k, he and I race our cars out at a few different tracks and auto-x... trust me, you're not close to too old
Hey, its all the way in WI, but check this guys car out...https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=131968 I hardly think 48 is too old for an evo...maybe a yellow riced out evo
I definitely agree with UT EVO.....my dad is 61 and he loves my car. He always asks me if he can take it out and show it off. He loves the BOV and the exhaust, and he loves passing everyone up on the street. He even tried to race some kid in a mustang GT, but the kid backed out. Oh well, i think its hard to put an age group with a car. I've seen 60-70 yeard old men driving the Scion Xa and tC, which are supposed to appeal to kids. Believe it or not, and EVO is a pretty practical car......4 doors, usable trunk, AWD.....the suspension maybe a little rough, but its definitely a verasatile car. Just giving u my 2 cents!

I'm pretty close to your age, with 4 kids (21-, 18-, 10, & 2.5 weeks.), with 2nd grandchild due next month.
LOVE my daily-driver Evo!!! So does the rest of family (especially the wife - note the newborn...)

I got my Evolution for the same price and roughly the same mileage too. I felt it was a great deal and absolutely love the car. I have put around 2000 miles on it and haven't had any problems with it.
Your not too OLD man I met a guy that is 60 with a modded EVO. He was quite cool also. I know nothing about the car but these cars can take a beating. Mine has 59,500 miles on it subtract 2000 for breakin but I had to replace the clutch and nothing else has given me any issues.
Well, I'm hoping the age issue was put to bed. My dad and my accountant love the car. My accountant (mid-40's) has one, and my dad has almost bought a couple of them, but it hasn't quite worked out. He wants my MR if I ever rid myself of it, and (god I hope he doesn't read this) he's pushing 60...so, age isn't an issue. Finding one in good shape (if you're looking used) is. If the family doesn't like it, just put a different wing on it...that's usually the part people notice first. Get a RS wing, I think they look pretty nice on evos (but I like my CF wing better.)
hey guy thanks for the positive responses. think Im going to take my time and start looking around for another used 2003 evo. My wife thinks i should buy the 2005 mr, but i think it's a little pricey for a second car.
