***Official Ohio Chat Thread***
That was my reaction to it too.. But oh well, still worth it though
Well, I know there was a lot of interest in doing some track days. Since all the group for Mid-Ohio are almost sold out, I assume no one else will register. Anyways, if you guys want to come hang out and check out the track (and the way things are done) for yourself, stop by, there should be quite few evos out there.
FYI, there will be about 3-4 FunDays at Nelson Ledges (I will attend probably all of them), the first one is Fri (18th), it's only $120 and plenty of track time, should be fun, maybe plan for that one

FunDay is like NASA with less rules. Usually 40-50 cars show up, so a lot of room (NASA usually has 300-400 cars) and you get about 4-6 sessions a day. If the days is pretty busy, they will run 20 min. sessions for all groups, if not too many people they will run 25-30 min. sessions.
There is a meeting in the morning where they will go over some rules and what not, if you're new they will get a group of new guys and talk to them a bit more, where they will answer questions that you might have. There are no instructors so you will have to ask for a ride with someone who is somewhat experienced (that will be the first 10 min session) only "instructors" with passengers. They break up all people in 2 groups, A and B. A is faster, more experienced; B is new guys + some guys with slower cars etc (by all means it's not judged by the fast/slow cars), but from my experience that's where I see guys with somewhat slow cars and some track experience. If there going to be a lot of traffic in group B they might create group C. So A is the fastest (that's where I see some pro guys and people with experience) B is slower and C is the slowest. if the day turns out with 3 groups, it's a lot of fun too. Less frustration.
Now you can jump from group to group also. They don't put you in the group, it's something you have to decide on your own (depends on the level of confidence, and obviously how slow you are) if you see fingers and many upset drivers, maybe move to a slower group. Example:
I drive in group A and I can tell I slow people down, next session I go out with group B, run with B for 2-3 sessions, gain more confidence and move up to group A. For all they care, you can run 1 sessions in A and 1 in B. You can drive all day long, exit with one group and then go out with the next one. Again, depends on how much beating your body, mind and your car can take. That's why it seems to be more freedom.
LMK if you have more questions, it's just a quick description

Great description, thank you. One more question, how do they treat the passing rules on track? Certain places to pass, with hand signal only?
Also, how has your car been since the dyno day?

I like the FunDays a lot. For me it is much easier to commit to a Funday because there is nothing lost if schedules, life, commitments, etc
... change. You get A LOT of seat time and it's only $120.
Re the passing: there are certain areas where you are allowed to pass and you are correct, it is only with a hand signal.
Oh and painted my track wheels blue
Just like Bobby said, a good thing is that you can pay when you come in, don't have to sign up
here is before

They were glowing purple/black at the track, after I would finish the session....
More pics today, I'm waiting for golden Brembo stickers from eBay (high temp. ones)

I might go down to watch if my one buddy will be there.
