1st RallyX in the Evo
1st RallyX in the Evo
Well, my times weren't too bad for a first-timer, but I DNF'd 3 times in the second heat. Wasn't paying attention to the cones, and was taking the path from the first heat. I guess maybe I could use a co-driver.
3 DNF's gave me a solid lock on last place.
Evo does great in the dirt. I was afraid I'd just push the front end through every turn, but after you get turning, lifting the throttle/left-foot-braking gets the car to rotate nicely. Stand on the throttle, and she straightens right out. I guess I actually learned something about weight transfer at the two DEs I did.
The course was really rough, it was at MAM, and it felt a little abusive to be driving the Evo on it with the stock suspension. I'm pretty sure the bump stops got a nice workout.
Here's a couple of pictures of the Evo, and a link to more. Pictures are by Jerry Doctor who graciously waived copyright for the event.
