winter boost prob

hey everyone

just recently noticed that my car's not boosting like normal..the weather's been like in the 40s and even though we had a brief cold spell in december, never had probs w/ my boost...until now...in lower gears (1-3) my boost guage goes only up to 5 then on 4-5th gear i can go up to 10-12 (which i normally would get WOT gears 1-5) but that's after really pressing the pedal to the metal - and even then it doesn't hold boost that well...i'm really pissed cuz i usually granny drive this thing and boost maybe twice a trip (it's my dd) i'm at 28gs in milage and was going to wait for a month or so to change out my fluids...tranny fluids, tcase, diff fluids, coolant - which one of these if not all of these fluids would influence this problem the most? i was always conerned about boost leak, so ordered a tester and waiting for it to come in the mail...other than boost leak, what else can i check for? btw i have a hallman's mbc - also, would an ebc fair better and hold boost better? sucks - feels like i'm driving a regular lance

Boost

My car has the same problem in the cold temperatures in Minnesota. The average temps nowadays here is in the 20's F. I did a search in the forums and found out the ECU is programmed for a safety feature. When the engine is cold, boost is restricted until the engine is warmed up to protect the engine. So after driving my car for 15 minutes, I can floor it and have no problems. Does your car still not boost after driving for a while? Good luck with the resolution.

ok now i put my car back to stock and it seems that i may have replaced my lines wrong - when i start my car, it stutters a bit and during gears 1-4 it seems like i have some kind of boost-limiter thing going b/c my car stutters past 5 psi...what did do wrong?
Here's some pics:

Your problem with trying to run the lines like stock is that you don't have the restrictor pills in the lines. This will cause a significantly lower boost level. Good luck.

hey

yeah, i was talking to warr about this as well as a few others...so far, from those sources, i should be able to boost at least 11psi w/o the pill restrictors, so i put an order for the set and just waiting on that now...until then, i'm just gonna drive my 'lancer' and be happy! been a rough '06 so far: rear end got hit, now turbo probs...warranty's up - what's next? oh, if the stock lines don't help was pondering on seeing ams to remedy the prob...do you local guys recommend anyone else?

thx for the replies
