gasoline alley indy!
wonderful cops in speedway indiana, one of them pulled me over in my parking lot of work today. don't think he got the radar on me or probably would have been in a little more trouble. (approx 100 in a 35 as i turned off of world famous gasoline alley onto the road to my work)
it was bad enough listening to guys that work for me teasing me all morning after seeing me pulled over 15 feet from the entrance to the plant (which was a us car company as well)
close call huh!

good Speedway Police stories huh.. ok here goes: (I think these are both sherriff dept, but in Speedway.. so I guess it counts)
1991 or so.. race weekend, guy waks up to the deputies walking down Crawfordsville Road and take a hit of his joint, then tries to pass it to the leading cop.. The cop says.. " You need to go back over there and smoke that, cause I really don't want to arrest you"
1989 or 1990 and I watched another deputy videotape (for his own entertainment, not evidence) an, um, err..... "act" a guy performed on his bottomless girlfriend on top of a motorhome at 2pm.. also on Crawfordsville road..
Good job on getting away with one not on a race weekend though, I imagine that would be tougher.

one night before the 500 a couple of years ago i watched the cops pull a guy out of his car on georgetown road next the track, after he had done a burn out while having a joint in his mount and a gun on the passenger seat of his car. we were on the bikes about 10 ft away laughing and thinking what a dumbass!
although, i think those were wonderful reserve officers of speedway and ipd

They have gotten a LOT more strict inthe last 10 years on race weekends.. I think after the locals saw how nice the NASCAR group was they wanted the same good behavior for the 500. (now of course NASCAR and 500 weekends seem to pull about the same amount of party-types)
In 1985 when I first went it was nuts, I was 9 years old and saw stuff that it's hard to find in a **** video. People used to stop cars on Crawfordsville road till the female occupants exposed themselves, and now if they step into the road they get busted..
One year I actually made $60 in 30 min standing with some random dude on the side of Crawfordsville acting as his "son" He would walk me up to a girl and say "This is my son, he has never seen ***** before" then I got $5 per unit that he saw.. (I was probably 13 or 14 at the time, which would put it in 1990-1991)
Now I usually do one "traditional" walk on race weekend down Georgetown Road and back, then go hang out with friends.
