New car purchase out of state

What taxes does one pay when buying a new car from out of state (Specifically I'm in IL and the car is in CA dealer)

IL DMV doesn't state where I would pay tax. I just want to make sure I don't get double taxed.

if i remember what mark said.
if you get it shipped, you pay taxes when u register the car in IL
if you go to pick it up, you pay taxes in CA. then you go to IL to get it registered and either pay more or get money back from the taxes you paid in CA>

either way, you'll be paying the amount of the state you register it in...
