Chicago Auto Show 2007 Pictures
I went to the Auto Show today and I made a bee line for
. They have a new Lancer up on a dedicated display and a white 2006 MR on the show floor. There is also a cool version of the Outlander called the Evolander. Here are all my pictures http://tinyurl.com/2odzgv .
I went to the stand where the
employees were working. A guy said the Concept X from the Detroit show was shipped to Europe and won't be making an appearance in Chi-town. A lady was speaking to somebody else and I overheard her say that Chicago is lucky to have an Evo on the floor. She said the first people to arrive in Chicago tried to secure an Evo for the show, but none of the Chicagoland dealers had one to spare. She said the advance people thought maybe there shouldn't be an Evo on the floor if they aren't available in showrooms. The lady said she made some calls and got an Evo.
I sat in the 2008 Lancer on the stand. It was the first car I've been in that had paddle shifters. The shifters seemed to be in a comfortable position and I look forward to trying the ones on the next Evo. All info is displayed on a center display about the size of a pop-up DVD screen. No more swapping radios with one from Best Buy. The heat control has been updated and it no longer operates with a Mickey Mouse cable like the one that DOESN'T WORK in my Evo.
Subaru always displays the STI better than Mitsubishi displays the Evo. The WRC STI is a centerpiece of the Subaru display every year whereas the Evo seems to be an afterthought for Mitsubishi. This year there is a Lancer from the 1970's, but it would be cool if they also showed the last WRC Evo to compete. Yesterday was the first day of the show so maybe the display will get better by Friday.
Subaru brought back the simulators where you can play Gran Turismo.

I laughed that Mitsubishi had their IX MR locked (at least last saturday)...yet you could sit in a z06. I was disappointed Ferrari, Koenigsegg, and Saleen weren't represented. Largest auto show in the nation my *** ;-)
