2nd Place, Minneapolis - Mazda Rev_It_Up Competition - My tips...
Here are some tips from me.
1.
Test drive a Mazda 6 BEFORE you go to the competition. I didn't and I paid the price...
2.
LEARN that the upshift is backwards and the downshift is forward.
3.
REMEMBER to upshift before 5k. I didn't figure this out until halfway through my first run and I ended up at the rev limiter for at least a second.
4.
Don't use ALL the track. Leave a few inches on either side. Unlike in a typical autox, the course is lined with hundreds of cones. When you go a little off-line, you WILL plough through the cones. With only two runs, you cannot afford NOT to get two clean runs.
