I have a friend who is running a small high performance shop in Madison. He is looking for a tech, he works mostly on Hondas, but does get a lot of different makes, Nissan, Mitsu, Subaru, Mazda, Toyota, exc he is almostly exclusivly import.

He has a dyno, and a nice facility, he will let you work on your own stuff after work

If you know your imports he will give you a shot, no ASE requirments.
