Chicagoland Twisties

Where's your favorite curvy road or straightaway in the Chicago metro area? Please, PLEASE don't post here unless it's a location close to Chicago. Start another thread with YOUR area of the country.

this might not be chicago but its fairly close. it's by willow lake around evanston.
this is the direction: take I94w and exit on tower rd (east). just keep going until you're by the lake front. this is a really expensive neigborhood so dont put the music too loud or you might get pulled over. the houses around this neighborhood costs like a mil$$ and up. lol
make a left on sheridan which is a dead end.

as soon as you make a left you'll be greeted with nothing but sharp S turns, unhills and downhills for about a mile or so. its really fun. just dont lose control of your car because you're f*cked if you do. average speed might be around 40mph, but on some turns no more than 15mph so be very careful.
i use to go here all the time alone during the day just cruising and its a lot of fun but the roads are kinda narrow.

19psi, that's Sheridan !! i love that street, definately the best around here. There's one section in Wilmette i think that is a valley, it's really short but the best road ive ever driven on. there;s a sign that says "curvy roads ahead" and then it tells u to go 15mph but u can blast through there 25+ probably but just be careful and remember that it's a 2 way road and the road is kinda tight.

If u're in the downtown area, u can take Lake Shore Drive north and ull eventually turn into Sheridan. Just keep following Sheridan and dont go off Sheridan, some parts are tricky and u might go onto another street lol.

have fun there man..the good thing there is since it's residential, u can just take a small side street and turn around and go through it again and again have fun and dont kill yourself or others!!

S turn on LSD, and end of LSD - sheridan road =) Watch out as you go further out in the burbs as there are cops that will profile and pull you over.

The express lane on 90/94 is sweet too at high speed < -- im not recommending anything here

290 is great but dangerous because theres no emergancy lane and theres quite a lot of bad drivers on that one.

Well Im going to start autocrossing so I wont be risking my life/car hitting a curb or something

Speed

My place for speed is I-94 in Indiana. The mile markers in the 20's before Michigan City. There is a 4-lane straight that's so flat that I can see a mirage at the other end on a sunny day. The bad part is that there's a weigh station in the middle of the straight and I've never had ***** enough to fly by it WOT. There are also some good straights in Michigan on I-94. I was sick of always wanting to speed in other states and I wanted something in Illinois.

Thanks for your input. I live in Rogers Park and that location on the north shore is no problem for me to find.

I drove that curvy part of Sheridan last night. Exit 31 (Tower Road) is only accessed on Eastbound 94 (heading back to the city). Take 94 West, Exit Dundee Road (a mile past the large BMW dealer) and get back on 94 East. There are two cloverleaf ramps at Dundee to get you warmed up for Sheridan.
Follow the above directions and you're there! You could also Mapquest it.

Definately the S curve on sheridan!! that road is supposedly haunted. I had a book on chicago's haunted places and the S-curve was one of them..anyway, yea the beach by Northwestern is a nice place to hang out at late nights. There's a road I always drive on that's real curvy going towards my friends house in hoffman estates..i think it's called Hillcrest? or Hilldale? but it's off of Higgins Rd.
