New Evo driver in SE, MO with some questions.

Hello,

I am new to the Evo community (just got mine last month) and I am looking for some information from others around this area.

Where is a good place to get a tune near Cape Girardeau, MO and what are their average costs for what I will be getting? Basically are they overpriced or right on the money?

Also are there any places around this area to take an Evo out to “play” not talking the drag strip but more of a track type of course?

Also basically just a hello from a “new” ’03 Evo driver and if you are around this area you might see me in my Apex silver. Maybe we can talk about what I want to do with the car and you can help direct me to the right parts/places.

Anyway thanks for any help you can pass my way.

Anybody know of any place that can do a tune and does a good job in the area?

I even consider Carbondale, IL, Marion, IL, Sikeston, MO, or St. Louis, MO as sort of in the area. I am a two hour drive south of St. Louis if that helps. This is a DD so a mail in tune would be impractical.

Thanks

Don't know why a mail-in tune would be impractical. You can still drive your car as you are in the mail tune process.

How about Kansas City? There is MKC Perforance here that does Evo tuning.

you're thinking of an e-mail tune, not a mail in tune... which was the only option before Ecuflash. obviously he can't drive around while his ECU is being shipped off to a tuner

on that note, and e-mail tune/e-flash is the most convenient tuning option. i generally recommend mellon, because he takes the time to explain everything to you - which is especially valuable to all the newbies.

thanks for the referral, I can do the tune via e-mail or you can drive to me one weekend and we can create a very slick tune in a few hours. I'm just south of Memphis, TN

I usually make the 5 hour drive to AMS that way I know I got a good reliable tune.

The mail-in is impractical because this is my DD. I guess I could use my wife’s car while I am waiting but with a child at home I really do not want my wife without a car. If I had a beater car to drive for the time I would do the mail-in in a heartbeat.

I had no idea one could do an email tune I will definitely be contacting Mellon about this soon. If that is not what I choose the drive to Memphis is not much different than St. Louis for me so I would definitely consider that. My choice between the two will mostly center on family, work and which will give the best effect if there is a difference.

I really had no idea one could do the email tune though that sounds very interesting option wise. Mostly because I could get a chance to maybe understand more about the process. I tried searching but was really not sure how to search something like this. Mellon will certainly be hearing from me soon though.

As I said I am new to the Evo aside from what I read here on the forums mainly since there is only one other Evo around and I have not seen that Evo in almost a year. Not counting the new Evo X that I have seen. I have had the car just over a month now and still love to go out to the garage and stare at it when I am not driving it.

Thanks for the responses so far I really appreciate the input.
