Saw 2 evos at the US Formula One race at Indy
I was in Indianapolis this weekend for the US Grand Prix. I saw a lot WRXs and Audis there, I guess because it rains alot. But I did see one Yellow EVO parked at qualifying on Saturday and a Silver EVO getting off the 465 freeway on Sunday. Good to see the EVO represented. The race was awesome and my man Schumi won.

I was there too.. mine was Red with michigan plates. I added cruise control so I could make the 5 hour drive without incident. I used to live in TX, and when I drove up to Michigan I got two tickets... you got that right about no cruise control.
I'm wearing my Kimi shirt right now.. don't lose faith!

nsnguyen, that's cool that you were there on Thursday for when they had the pit area opened to the public. I didn't get into Indy till late Friday. I will also post some pictures ASAP. I am so mad about what happend Saturday night. We were out about the downtown Indy area drinking at all the local breweries and restaurants. Well, I was told that St. Elmo's Steakhouse is the place that all the F1 people go to eat. When we tried to get in, they had a 3 hour wait. We saw Eddie Jordan go in while waiting. We ended up eating somewhere else. We went back at about 10 and they had plenty of room at the bar. But we figured we'd go check out the local clubs and come back. We went back to St. Elmo's at about 11 and they were already shutting down. The guy at the door said that Michael Schumacher left there about an hour ago. I was so pissed off. If only we stayed in there instead of checking out the lame club scene at Indy. There's always next year.

I was 10 feet from schumi when he came out for the pit walkabout. I am no ferrari fan, but it was nice of him to give a shout out to the fans both at the walkabout and at the post-race inverview. One thing that is cool is that a lot of the Euro and South American F1 fans are also WRC fans, so the Evo got a lot of attention. I saw more than a couple people taking pics of my car. I also parked in between a bunch of subarus with Manufacturer plates (there is a plant in Indiana) and a lot of japanese folk standing around, so I have to assume that they were Subaru employees too. They seemed to like the Evo as well

Isn't it real funny? one williams, one mclaren, and one ferrari were out of the race, and NONE was the top runner of respective teams??? how come these front runner guys(schumi, kimi, jpm) don't seem to break as often? I'm almost suspecting that they are getting "better" car of the two if such even exists. Logically, faster guys should put more stress in the car and therefore have higher chance of failure.
Well, ralf crashed his car backwards into a wall and broke his suspension. Rubens was forced into the gravel by JPM. Only Couthard had engine failure but if you remember the European Grand Prix where Kimi had a comfortable lead, you'll remember that his Ilmor-Mercedes engine failed. That poor kid was crying at the end.
You are right. It's just that I remember last year when Rubens had trouble starting off the grid several times as opposed to schumi's near invinsibility.
For all you Kimi fans, You shouldn't worry about a thing. I'm guessing Kimi will win AT LEAST 2 world championship before it's time to retire. So young and so fast!

Try like 5
At least the two Williams didn't take each other out of the race this year.
And there weren't any Ferrari finish line antics either. I thought it was a fairly interesting race. I still can't believe they sent Schumacher out on dry tires during their pit, and then brought him in one lap later for intermediates. But they still won the race, so I guess it doesn't really matter anyways, does it?

I think they had more fuel purposely in anticipation of rain. But they happend to be about 2 laps off. They had the right strategy, but predicting the weather is hard even for Ferrari with their $300-400 million a year budget. I think Ross Brawn said they sent him out in intermediates, and then brought him back for full rain tires.
In the post race interview, schumi said he went out in dry tires because they were gambling that it would clear up. He even asked the pit guys if intermediates were the way to go for that first stop, but at that point it was too late. They put the intermediates on in the second stop. It's all about calculated risks in F1...

That's a drive with no cruise control.
