All season tire deal

Chuck over at Adrenaline in St. Charles has offered to discount the all-season Kuhmo Ecsta in the stock 235/45/17 Evo tire size. He has 3 sets of tires (12 tires total)in warehouse inventory. If he can sell all three as a gb, he will price at $105 per tire, and at one set the price is still reasonable at $115 per tire.

He also mentioned that Adrenaline will dismount your summer tires, and remount and balance the new tires for $40 a car. I talked with him today and he said to just let him know and he could get the tires out of his warehouse fairly quickly.

Let me know if anyone is interested!

Yeah, I found that out as well when I started looking at the Kuhmo site after posting this info. It appears that there are only a couple of choices that fit into the 235/45/17 sizing and those are the Ecsta KH11, and the Supra 712.

Of those two the KH11 seems to be the typical all-season type tire as opposed to the 712, although the 712 certainly looks nicer. I will dig into this a little further to find out for sure and will also try to find some more info on their all-season performance capabilities.

I can ask him about other tires as well. I know he carries Toyo, Sumitomo, Falken, and a few others I think. I would check on the FZ4 Toyo, but I don't think that particular tire comes in the right size.

mykrrrr- you are right, it really has to be the KH11 tire, there really is no other possibility in the correct size.

Bottom line is I will check on other possibilities, and let you guys know whats available and at what prices.

the best deal locally I can find for some tires I'd want seems to be up at Sam's Club, they have Michelin Pilot Alpin 235/45R17 tires for $153.24 each (and I think that may be the installed price - I need to double check that). Not a bad price, but you have to order them though (they are special order) - but they can get them there in just a few days apparently.

Might do that later this month or early in November if nothing better comes along before then.

I'll probably be going with the Yoko H4. Only $95 from Tire Rack. Like I said in the other thread, my dad had these on his 1st gen GSX and it was awesome in the snow last year and every year before that. We've always used Yokohama tires and usually go with the H4 or T4 for all-season tires.

Those are both pretty good prices, and on the pilot alpin especially if thats an installed price! Thats also a real serious winter tire as well!

We need winter tires because of the temperature, not because of the snow. Chicago does a great job getting rid of even the heaviest snow in 24-48 hours. It'll still be cold and the stock tires will be rock hard.

I would be in for the group buy, but my car is in the shop getting the front and rear ends repaired (long story). Please give me the name and number of the shop. I will pre-pay and get them installed when I get my car back.

Updated w/pricing

Getting some prices on some Conti extreme contacts from a fellow rally enthusiast that manages a tire store. Told him we were interested in seeing what kind of gb pricing we could get.

He is contacting Continental to determine availability in our size, and will work up some installed pricing. Should have some info later today.

Btw- This particular shop has some very advanced alignment equipment and one of the best alignment guys I have ever run across. If anyone was interested in getting a performance alignment we could probably get a deal as well.

N10S

Just an update. Continental Conti Extreme Contact in 235/45/17 out the door w/ tax and install =$611.00. I confirmed that there were 20 total tires in inventory...so enough for 5 cars. These are excellent tires from feedback I have seen from members that are using them. You can probably get a slightly better deal through tire rack, but you do have to include shipping, and removal/install and balance costs to do a apples to apples comparison.. Then its just the hassle of dealing with a different shop than where you buy the tires from, which is not ususally much fun.

Let me know if anyone is interested, as it takes about a week to get them in.

Just another option!!

NIOS - I will probably go in with you on something. I'm wanting an all-season tire as well. Keep us posted.

Which ones do you think you're going with?
