Schaumburg dealership woes
Schaumburg dealership woes
Has anyone had any dealings with Schaumburg Ford Lincoln Mercury???
I bought my evo from them about 2 months ago, and they have not released my title to me. They say they left some kind of diagnostic tool in my car??! I have repeatedly told them I don't know what it is that they are wanting. They have been very rude and have even called me an a$$hole after I told them even if your $hit was in the car you sold it to me as is.
This is getting so annoying I don't really want to drive 7 hours back there to get my freaking title.
I have filed a complaint with the Iowa DOT but I don't know what thats going to do because its out of state
Any Ideas???

As others have said, if you took out a loan to get the car, your bank will be asking for that title... I am sure they would be happy to go to bat for you on this. If not, time to grab the bill of sale and go to the police.
When you buy a house, you actually sign a document that says "as of the signing of this document by all parties, anything left on the property is now owned by the purchaser". while you may not specifically have had to sign something along those lines when buying the car, I believe it is an implied right --- otherwise dealerships could send you the bill for the remaining gas in the gas tank, etc..
Oh, and why would you file a complaint with the Iowa DOT if you bought the car in IL? (yes, I realize you need to title it in IA.. but the transaction took place in IL, so I would start with IL authorities).
Oh.. one more thing... if you did pay cash for the car, why did you leave without getting the title handed to you?

We started the process kinda later at night so we actually signed all the papers and such after closing and they told me that they could not release the title to me after hours. Kinda sounded like some BS then.

OK. Here MIGHT be the deal... (The scanner is a gift if it WAS is the car... It costs $$$ to be stupid)
Sometimes cars are bought wholesale "TA" title attached from dealer auctions, trade in or dealer trade.
If this is the case here it may take 90 days OR LONGER to get the title to you or your bank (you need to give me more info on your purchase funds method.)
They do not want to lose their license because you didn't get your paperwork... I believe they are working on it but sometimes it gets sticky.... (Maybe a quick cash lien is still on the car, etc...)
Just drive on the temp that you were given and if it is coming close to expiring have them send you another! You might also want to mention to them you will be contacting the IL Sec. of State title division and letting them know of the situation (217-782-6950).
They DO NOT want ANY issues with the SOS!!!
Hope this helps settle you...
GOOD LUCK--- let me know what happens!

Car was bought with a loan from my credit union. So a check was written for a set amount from the credit union and I paid cash for the difference. Gave me leverage to negotiate on the price. I appreciate you getting me some information. I will be calling that number on Monday
Update:
I called that number and they referred me to the IL Sec. of State Police I have to fill out a form and they said they would be making a visit.
Let you know what goes down

STICK IT TO THOSE AHOLES If they left a scan tool that is the technicians fault for leaving it in there. its like losing a wad of money and hoping it will be returned to you.....
they have no right to hold up your title for personal property left in the vehicle.
check your bank to see if they can help all else fails contact the attorney general's office as well.
