Only problem is, the different tools/devices give different readings. 36% on one reader might be 34% on a cop's reader... if the cop's a dick he can ticket you for having 34% all around while you ***** and moan that it was installed as a 35% tint

not a single IL cop has a light meter as of right now... plus people are still getting ticketed for it even though the law went into affect immediately , dont let the officer tell you other wise. fight it in court.

Please read the bill over again...

the law gives for a ±5% variance because meter's aren't 100% accurate, plus the "clear" window is also being metered and that will effect the real reading.

If you get pulled over and metered you'll be ticketed.

30% tint + window = ~28-27% on the tint meter.

the law states you can have 35% all around with a ±5% variance. So if the meter reads Anywhere from 30%-34% you're fine even though the law says 35%.

I thought tints were legal up there && didn't they just rescind the front plate law?

Legal, same as IL was, I think. 50% front, 35% rear. 50% isn't even worth paying for.

And I heard they tried to do the front plate law, but whiney State Troopers went on and on and on till they got sick of hearing from them and they didn't pass it. Unless that's changed again recently.

just got my tints done at Umbra in Schaumburg. Nino's a nice guy and does an excellent job. While I was there, Brian (from TUFGuard) installed a clear bra. Best price around. The guy is a true professional as well. 400$ for the basic package for the clear bra -- thats about 1/2 the price other installers charge. It's still high in my opinion, but lower than any competition I'm aware of.
