Looking for advice in Louisville KY

Hey everyone,

I've been looking at these cars for over 5 years. I recently purchased my first Evo and am trying to learn the ins and outs of the car. This forum has tons of great info, on everything imaginable!!!

Anyway, I live in Louisville KY, and I am looking to find some other Evo owners around here that may be able to help me in the future. Not asking anyone to actually DO anything, just wondering what kinds of dealings everyone has had with anyone who may have worked on your cars here. I know Chicago is only a road trip away, but does anyone recommend someone around town.

The car is an 2005 Evo VIII MR. Has a full Buschur race FMIC and upper/lower IC pipes, along with a K&N CAI. Blitz BOV (which sounds like some kind of gremlin taking a beatdown during off throttle ) HKS Hi-Power TBE, Apexi DP, and a XSPower exhaust manifold (also something I have not read, or heard much good about). It also has a standalone AEM with a wideband O2. I think thats about it for the bolt ons. The motor is completely stock to the best of my knowledge.

The only other thing done is Tein coilovers w/ EDFC, and a different clutch.

I am kind of wondering about a different BOV, what kinds of settings work well with the Tein if there are any, and generally any pointers people may have for me with the components already installed on the car.

Thanks in advance for any help I can get, and if you're in the Ville, atleast say Hey!

not sure what you're selling haha but good to see you finally bought this fine machine!!
my first thought is do you have emissions in Kentucky?? because I'm not sure if u can pass with an AEM standalone hahaa
depending on how much boost your engine is running I would say a tial, or greddy bov would be a nice replacement

Wrong section, but I'm in the Louisville area along with quite a few other Evo owners. I do all my own work so I don't have any recommendations there, unless you need a tune. You should check out 502streetscene.net and midwestevos.com too.

X91EVO - KY doesn't have emissions testing anymore so he's safe

Yea - somehow this post got moved to the marketplace by accident. Anyway, I did locate a good local tuner, and removed the AEM from the car. It runs much smoother now, and still has plenty of power. Seems like whoever added the AEM didn't really know what he was doing. They never even took the car off of MAF and on to speed density. Anyway, looking to go to E85 soon with some upgrades trying to break the 400WHP mark.

Who did you have tune it? I will be switching to E85 as soon as I get off my butt and install the fuel pump and injectors sitting in the garage. I just found out my closest Throntons now has E85, so it's only about 10 miles away now instead of 17.

A guy named Adam, he is in IN too. He is colt4g63 on these forums, and I'm sure he would love to hook you up. He is doing my E85 tune tomorrow and I am stoked as hell!!! He did a great job on my first one. Found a boost leak that was giving me grief for two weeks in ten minutes, then tuned the stock ECU to romp all over the AEM setup that was in it before. He can tune AEM too, I just didn't want to keep dealing with the tuning and cold start issues.

I know Adam; he tuned my car, along with just about every other Evo I know in the area, and we hang out with him pretty much every weekend. He's the tuner referral I eluded to above. He's pretty **** about getting the tune as perfect as possible, and he's the only local tuner I would trust with my car. I was just talking to him about E85 last night. I'm hoping to get some time to get my fuel pump and injectors installed in the next few weeks and see what I've been missing.
