Unhappy Indiana Insurance laws?

I got rear ended by a Ford F-150 doing close to 50 mph tonight I was also pushed into the car in front of me. I have very severe damage to the rear of the car, and the front is pretty messed up as well (including the intercooler looking bent).

If the car spends less than 3 months in the shop I will be surprised. Depending on how much repairs will cost it may even be totaled out. If it is not totaled out, I will be trying to convince the insurance company to let me buy aftermarket parts to replace damaged ones (like the FMIC, and tail lights). I will "stealth" the car if they let me (no wing on the new trunk, JDM tail lights).

I will be taking pictures in the morning and submitting them to this thread.

Any advice from people who have been though this woud be appreciated, especially on the matter of convinceing the insurance company to go with aftermarket parts instead of stock crap.

Thanks,

Keith

I'm not sure if you would have to convince the company to get aftermarket parts. After looking into them they might actually be cheaper than the OEM parts.

My friend's modded Civic was stolen not too long ago and was found in West Chicago stripped of all aftermarket goodies. The insurance company gave him money to buy new aftermarket goodies to replace what was stripped off, but only after he provided proof that he had aftermarket parts on his car prior to the incident.

Funny part of the story was that those fools stole everything on and in the car, but not the engine, which was a B18C1.

Fourdoor-

Sorry to hear about the damage. I was hit by somebody when I had my truck. I told my insurance company that I wasn't sure where I was going to have the service done, so they gave me a check for the damages. That way I could take it wherever I wanted, or do whatever I wanted. If they total it, let me know. I would like to get a few parts, if possible.
