Info on TSSCC?

I wanna try out AutoX and found a few events in the Chicago land area coming up soon. They are being put on by TSSCC. Will this be a good place to learn and give it a try. The only experience is at the strip, and thats very limited. Any info would be appreciated.

Their website http://www.tsscc.org/ seems to have a decent amount of introductory info.

While I have never AutoX'd (I'd like to, no time), I know many who have and enjoy it thoroughly. You have to start somewhere, and unless you have your own parking lot and a stack of cones, going to one of these events is the only way I know to get into the sport. Although many of these events are parts of seasons for various classes, you don't have to take part in that, and can just go to enjoy the experience as often (or not) as you'd like.

If it is your first time, it may be a humbling experience when that 20-year-old, 150hp N/A Miata posts a faster time than you... however, nobody is going to laugh at you, as everyone was there once.

i haven't been able to make any of the events that tsscc has held this year, but i've competed in a few scca and mcscc events.
everyone is extremely helpful so don't be afraid to ask questions and take notes if you need to. many of these organizations offer a class eariler in the year for you to learn the rules, placement of cones on the course, etc. you'll need to figure out if you want to pay for a year long membership or just on the weekends that you can make an event. also, you'll need to determine what group your car is, which they can help you with. these are just a few of the things to think about but its lots of fun whether you're looking to compete at nationals or just on the weekends for the hell of it.

i'd be happy to help answer questions the best that i can since i haven't been involved with tsscc yet.
