This is double digit cars that have been taken and/or attempted since the last week of June.

I know my buddies was taken the end of June, and found two weeks later (give or take) completely gutted. The same night his was taken, they tried for two other area Evos but were unsuccesful.

I highly doubt someone would really want to do this to their Evo unless they really dont give a damn about it... It is however a good idea

Chicago is no bueno to own an Evo right now apparently... If I lived there I would feel like I did with my Integra when I lived in NJ close to Newark...

I would say how I prevented my Integra from being stolen once but I dont want to educate anyone hunting the boards to find out more ways to steal cars and look for things that prevent them from stealing them.

Sorry to hear about this man... it totally sucks.

Holy S**T!!! I think all evo owners should move away from that area. There have been A LOT of stolen cars in IL. especially this past spring/summer. It's sad to see this one was kidnapped also. Hopefully it turns up somewhere and in one piece. Remeber what goes around comes around. Karma is real whether you believe it or not.

I see where you're coming from, but where things sit now it seems that doing nothing would be more indicative of not giving a damn. If something like this was happening here, to my friends and my community, I wouldn't just wait. If I were you I'd assume that at some point my car will be next. With that assumption, why wait and allow it to go the same route. If my Evo is going to be stolen, stripped and left gutted, it be on my terms and let it be the last. Thinking yours won't get stolen is foolish at this point. They've been stolen from a garage, from parking lots, off the street and who knows where and how else. DO SOMETHING!

The ones from the forums alone are out of a garage, one from an apartment complex lot, the street infront of condos, one on the street while the owner was in the bar, and one that was on the street in the middle of the AFTERNOON by a university....

I believe two attempts were made infont of homes the same night my buddies was taken. There was also another one NOT on the forums that was from a garage if memory serves.....

Just like you said, it's foolish to think yours wont get stolen at this point.

would it be illegal to develop a car deterrent device that would activate a cyanide gas inside the car minutes after it gets stolen?...obviously killing the thief...sorry about your car...why always in the state of Chicago?
