Does anyone know of a place in Dayton Ohio that is reputable and fairly resonable to replace my clutch? Thanks

Not certain about what’s in the Dayton area but here in Columbus there is IPS Motorsports who is very reputable. They are in the process of moving to a new location that will have 15 lifts.

I would try going to the Midwest regional section of this forum and asking in there, you might have a better chance and having someone respond who is in your area. In case you didn’t know there is an “Offical Ohio” thread.

Good luck!

Shepherd Transmission is only about 3hrs from you, if that helps any..

http://www.sheptrans.com/contact/index.htm

..and might as well get them to beef up your center diff, since I think they're only one of 2 shops that do it.

I have thought about them, but not sure the car will make the drive. I cant accelerate too much or it slips. The clutch about gone. I got the care used with 5k miles. It smelled like burnt clutch but didnt know how bad. Since i bought it i have put 10k miles on it. Thanks.

Hey dude, its me Mike, we met at the hobby shop on base. Sorry to hear about your car. That blows! If you can make it to Sheptrans or Buschur, I'd go for it. I've yet to see anyone local that can work on our cars besides the dealership but they'd charge wayyy too much.

I have called everyone around town. Since i'm getting clutch replaced, i'm going to go with either act spring 6 puck or the spec 2+. only one shop will do it. all others have said they will NOT do a aftermarket clutch. the dealer here even said no and i go there quite a bit. The dealer here said just for labor would be $900. think that is kinda steep. I am going to have Brownies IT transmission shop do it. We will see how it goes. they said they have done evos and subbies before. so we will see. I hate to do the we will see what happens but have no choice right now. Thanks for the help Mike. We really need to get to gether with some of the other evo and subby guys and go for a ride, maybe plan a trip to the Dragons tail. After this clutch, i'm gonna change my own. have done one before (no evo), but that is how you learn, right?

I changed the clutch on my 98 Eclipse GSX but that was a while ago. It was pretty easy but time consuming. I'm going to call Buschur and Sheptrans today to get a price quote on changing my clutch. I might as well change it now since I plan on 400+HP by next summer.

I just got off the phone with Sheptrans and they quoted me $450 labor for a clutch install. Plus they'll match whatever price you find for any clutch you choose.

That is a nice price. I wi**** would make it there. It MIGHT make it if i try not to accelerate too much. That is why i am tryin this place. Since i am planning more HP might as well do it now. But it all depends on what this place says as far as install. I may have to have someone go with me just incase it fails on way.

What about Jay at Jayracing? They are in Brookville off exit 24, go to the first light turn left, first road on the right, Wellbaum. and I think 3rd place on the left you cannot miss the garage and big black rv. If you need his number it is on his website or PM me.

Brad Russell down in N KY near Cincinnati can do the clutch for you. I would knock it out for you (I've done 13 clutch installs on Evos) but I am currently deployed. Search the Updated SW Ohio board for more locals. There is A LOT of us around the area.
