318 Curves in 11 miles
I know it is 7 hrs from Dayton, but we should plan to go here for some good times and nice scenery. We should start planning and go in the spring.

Thinkin it would be impressive to see 100ish Evo's, STI's, or whatever on a ride.

sounds good to me. if we set a date and get rough estimate of people comited to a spring trip, we can see about hotels and such. if you go to their web site and look we could get tshirts made with our "evo day" and their artwork on it with the dates and whatever.

we could do this also. if we got enough people. think this would be best deal if we gonna make a weekend of it. $620 / day to rent all three.

I went there back in Dec 2006, day after Christmas. Awesome road, switchbacks are a bit steep so scrapped the front end a few times. You should also check out hellbender 28 which comes off the southern end of the tail. We stayed at Fontana Village for the night, on 28 just a few miles off the tail. I would love to go back but it is a bit far from me now

I get the impression that the Dragon is becoming pretty crowded and the local police are very aware of the type of driving people like to do on that road. There are other roads in the region that are supposed to be less crowded and just as good to drive.

If someone knows of better roads, great. Lets get a plan and start planning for spring. This way those that store their car about this time of year wont miss out and all of us can work on our cars till then. This could be prettty big. If there are Bussiness from the forums in the areas that we will be going, we should make a list of them and make sure we stop and show support. who knows they may return support. I think this will be great. Maybe if the MOD gods would start a suggestion thread for all to have input would probably be best.

I was just there on my FZ1 a couple of weeks ago. The dragon is pretty awesome, but high traffic during most of the day and pretty heavily policed... I did pass by the same evo on a few of the roads out there though!
Honestly, I think putting a stealth hitch on the X and towing my bike out here for a week would be a dream. I wouldn't really push the evo on the dragon though, if you float at all you will probably wind up killing someone, and the bikes will be way faster here than your car. If you do go, I highly recommend Cherahala and 28, but it is actually pretty hard to go wrong with any of the roads out here.
If someone is actually organizing this (probably closer to when dates are set and everything is being planned) PM me and I can send you some routes. Worst case, you can always ask the locals and they are generally VERY friendly to bikers, not sure about cars.
One thing you should definitely keep in mind, if you plan to have fun out here have it in the twistys... everyone I know that has gotten a ticket got it playing catch-up in the straights.
Most importantly BE SAFE, drive under your limit until you are very comfortable, and continue to do so after.... even if you aren't the one that makes the mistake, you don't want to be responsible for a pile up, bike vs car, or bike massacre. Most of the roads there are incredible, but even at the speed limit you can hit an unexpected corner with gravel and wind up pushing. That said, drive intelligently and you will have the most fun available on the road.
last pro-tip: When the road at the dragon says "slo" PAY ATTENTION... its not joking.

) last summer but couldn't make it. If I ever go, I am taking my R6 instead of the Evo. So much more fun.
