Anyone confirm that this is clean?

Okay, I'm in the market for my third evo. I've sold my last two and have gotten the itch to get back.

So I go on autotrader and find this evo from Illinois. It's GG MR SE. It looks really good on pictures and low miles. Only thing is I can't see it for another two weeks. I'll be moving from Virginia to Texas in that time.

So I was wondering if anyone could scout out this evo for me. My main concern is rust under the body and in the engine.

Here's the link

Smile

Yeah I figured that there would be too much snow ice and SALT (not the Angelina Jolie kind) that's what makes me so hesitant in going up there, dont wanna buy a rusty evo.

Hey I was going to buy that car back when they were asking 27.9 for it, but i ended up getting an X. I have driven the car and I can tell you that you won't find any cleaner around here man especially since they lowered the price now. I came the second time with my mechanic and the car literally looks like it's never been touched all the bolts in the engine bay dont even have marks from sockets on them or anything so it wasnt just "returned" back to stock. The only problem that make sure they fix is this:

Reverse lights didnt work

Make sure they put in actual exhaust gaskets on for you, the previous owner must have had an exhaust or raplaced the cat and they didnt put gaskets on, just the cheap exhaust cement ****.

Other then that youve got yourself probablly the cleanest low milage evo in illinois, enjoy it!

Thanks Pat for the scout report. So your mechanic looked under the car and saw some cheap cement gasket on the exhaust? Was there any rust spots he saw under there?

Yeah looks really good. If a fellow evom 'er says its clean. I guess it's worth a drive there.

25k miles on an 06, im betting it wasnt driven unless it was nice out. Im guessing. It looks super clean though. The price, surprisingly isnt bad considering the mileage and its at a dealer.

Slight rust underneath probablly because the dealer let people test drive it now in the winter time, also forgot to mention that car is missing the plastic undertray under the engine bay. Definitely worth the drive, another person i know who looked at it said the salesman were douchebags so just make sure you talk to mario, hes not crazy "evo smart" but hes an honest guy, give the car a very close go around.

Body flaws with the car:

There is something on the rear bumper, very hard to describe but somewhat looks like a small paint flaw, youll notice it.

Also on the rear windshield from the drivers side that little panel on the left seems to be somewhat sticking out a bit, give it a little press and youll be able to tell.

Just dont be afraid to point crap like that out to them because usually dealers will bend over backwards to fix things like this just to sell you the car!

Also, if your in the area definitely check out oak lawn mazda, its where i ended up buying my evo from and they actually just got in a very nice lookin' 06 rs. Yeah its an rs, but looks liek it has a radio in it etc. I know for a fact the oak lawn guys can be a little stubborn and\or smart asses about stuff but facts are facts, they get in some of the nicest used cars around here. Plus their guy roman actually sets up the prices for other dealerships on their evos because many do not know the true value, yes, roman set the original price of the 06mr at orlando scion. Just go in there tell them your serious and they will also work with ya, mention that pat with the grey evo x sent ya maybe theyll remember you! haha. The white rs is probablly clean since if you look at the carfax looks like its a cali car.

Hope all goes well!

Cool

Yeah I went ahead and sent them the check for 26k I was looking for the nearest stock evo ix mr and this one with low mileage is very nice. Im not able to test drive it because of my hectic schedule. My wife thinks I'm crazy for buying this car without test driving it. But from the looks of it and according to Pat its clean with minor flaws to paint in rear bumper, the rear interior panel sticking out and the under tray not being there. All things that can be fixed. Thanks for the info Pat ! I'm now shopping for a beatrush underpanel. going to leave this stock for awhile and keep it. Hehehe
