The more the merry. It looks like if everyone shows up that say they will, we could have a pretty good turn out.

RULES:
1) Safety!!!! . If you see houses, SLOW DOWN! People living in towns pay police/deputies to patrol the roads, if they see or hear you going too fast, they will call up the local law enforcement and demand service from these deputies/police. Most small towns have RADAR TRAPS. All towns have posted city limit signs, LOOK OUT and obey any city speed limit. Estes and Lyons have very sneaky cops and they demand you respect their speed limits. If you see buildings SLOW DOWN! If you can’t see around the corner SLOW DOWN, if you don’t have great brakes, SLOW DOWN! If you drive a WRX with stock brakes, that EVO in front of you can slow down faster than you and you will rear end him! If you overheat your brakes, you are looking at $$$$$$$$ to fix them. Best way to not overheat your brakes? SLOW DOWN. There is no excuse for causing a safety issue out on the road, we are not doing this to set the Golden to Estes Park world speed record. Nothing wrong with hanging in the back just taking in the scenery.

2)Maintain a safe following distance to Estes! Nothing looks more suspicious than a group of imports bumper to bumper going around a corner. Cops are not idiots, and this is not a safe way to run on a public road. If you want to go ***** out, work your way up the group and take the lead. Use a little discipline and run at the same speed as the car in front of you while maintaining a safe distance. Close the gaps in the straights, signal to pass. If the car behind you signals he wants the lead, let him take it. Don’t take the lead unless you intend on going fast.

3) Do not pass another car in the group without asking for permission by using your blinker and flashing your brights! The car in front of you will wave you past with his hand and slow down slightly to create a safe gap in front of him for you to go into. The car in front of you can see if there is another car coming better than you can and will communicate with you. THIS IS NOT A RACE, this is for fun. It is not fun to scrape paint with another car or hit a truck head on that you couldn’t see coming around the corner.

4)The car in the front of the pack is considered the pace car. He will signal an “All clear” if he can see you have left a town’s city limits by turning on his headlights. You will in turn signal to the car behind you by turning on your headlights, etc. The lead car will signal that it is not safe to go fast by turning off his headlights. You will do the same by turning off your headlights. Please be aware if you are the lead car.

4)The car in the rear is considered the trail vehicle. He will always have his lights on UNLESS he sees a law enforcement vehicle behind him/her. If you see the car behind you turn off his headlights, this means SLOW DOWN immediately, we are being followed. You in turn should turn off your headlights to signal the car in front of you. Please be aware if you are the lead or trail vehicle or if you are the car second to the front or the rear.
Please be aware of these “headlight” rules so that this will go smoothly. I am betting it will not, but we must do all that we can to keep from being pulled over as a group. We will probably get split up pretty bad, just try to follow the “headlight” rules the best that you can. Just keep your eyes on the tail lights/headlights of the cars around you so you know if it is safe to go or not. As a rule, keep your headlights ON unless you see the car in front of your or behind you doing the opposite.

6)If part of the group comes across a slow car, the entire group will stay back until the slow vehicle can be passed by the entire group. Please do not be an *** and honk at the slow vehicle or be a hero and try to just pass him on the left, there is no way that the whole group can pass one car at one time. . I have been pulled over before when I was younger because I passed someone illegally, and that person I passed waved down the sheriff. Please drive courteously and legally around other cars as much as possible so that we may maintain a low profile.
Turn your headlights off so that the group as a whole will know to slow down, and try your best to rejoin the group. If the group becomes totally separated, the rear vehicle should call someone in the lead group ONLY if they see the sheriff, the same goes for if the lead car sees the sheriff going towards the stragglers

7,8,9,10)Safety safety safety! Do not flip your car or hit another car or a tree trying to prove something. This will ruin the possibility of future runs for everyone. No one is going to make fun of you if you have the slowest time going down to lyons, but EVERYONE will talk about the idiot who killed himself when he lost control and ran off the road or f’d up this whole thing by trying to exceed the limits of his ability or his car. Bad way to be famous. If your tires are making noise, you are not driving well or your car has reached its limit. Please turn your radio off and listen to your car so that you do not exceed your personal limits or your cars handling limits. My EVO is 100% stock and I just want to have fun, not impress any of you. If you think you are going to impress me, you are probably wrong. The only thing that will impress me is if we manage to pull this off with 0 tickets and 0 accidents and 0 incidents OF ANY KIND.

11)have fun. If you’re not smiling, you’re not going fast enough

12)Don't like to follow rules? You won't be invited back.

I think one of the rules should have been that we all knew where we were going. You need to make a map next time.

well those rules didn't work out as planned. We couldn't keep everyone together long enough. Oh well. I would like to have known where we were going first.....like a map or directions.

On a bike the rider is a huge part of the equation. My bike is waaay faster then my EVO in the canyons, but only on roads I KNOW are clear of gravel etc. (and I drive better than I ride). Usually you allow an even bigger safety buffer on the bike hence cars SEEM faster, they are not. A modern Sport bike can pull 1.2g's of cornering force and we all know how well they accelerate! Plus their corner radius is bigger because they are so narrow. Just look at the tires on parked sport bikes, only 1 out of 50 will be worn to the edges of the tires (showing the rider has at least some ability). Thank God most of them can't ride so we can pick them off in our EVO's Nice kills BTW

Yeah, I think I was able to get them b/c they could only use one lane, and only a fraction of the contact patch on their tires. If they could have leaned it over, different story. A kill is still a kill

Well, like I said, 93 to 72. We had a protocol to pull over before the turn onto 72 if everyone was not together and wait. Why did you guys just turn around and go home? We pulled over to wait for you when you made the wrong turn, and we were told you were going back because you were mad or something. Dunno. We actually tried to send out James in his subaru to go get you guys, but by that time you all went back. I still don't understand what went wrong, you guys knew where we were and knew that we were waiting for you.

Most of us at the tail end of the line got stuck at the light turning onto 285...ya'll just took off forgetting that most of us didn't know how to get to 93. You lost nearly everyone. Next time, make sure your tail can keep up.

But we ended up having our little fun, and on that note, the pics will be posted up later in the week.

I had a WONDERFUL time meeting everyone!! You guys are a great group of people, and I look forward to many more events with you!

First off, where the hell is 93 and 72......If you don't know where you are going you don't even know what to look for.....the person in the very front needs to lead by example and go slow enough to wait and make sure that everyone is with them. Yes I was upset, I thought we had an awesome group together and it would have been a great day, but when you lose part of your group, and the blind is leading the blind, then it makes for a rough driving trip.

Second, I don't know how we decided this trip anyways, it was decided by you and you only, and no one had any other say in it. No one got to voice if they really wanted to drive that far. If a group is going to drive like that, we need to make sure we get everyones opinion, and see what the options are.

So yes, we went back, I was frustrated that the group got split, and I understand you waited for us, and thank you for waiting, but unfortunately, we didn't know where you were waiting, the front half went mock ten and the back group got stuck at a light. It is very hard to lead a group of 10 cars, and I don't blame anyone for that. It is very difficult task. I myself did not know that you guys were waiting for us until I had already turned around and was almost at the original place we started. Cell phones suck in the mountains, I tried calling people, and only got one answer. Can't blame anyone for that either.

Did you guys make the rest of the trip? Did you do 110mph around the corners? I hope you had fund.

We went on a small reoad trip to evergreen, and got some pizza and had a great time. The roads up to everygreen were actualy quite twisty and loads of fun.

Finally, thanks to everyone who did show up at soundtrack. I would have like to talk more to the other folks. It was nice to meet the new people (James in the wrx, and the other two guys in the Evo's).

Thanks for coming Angie, we enjoyed your company and that was a great little trip....you are crazy by the way. I can't believe you guys were taking pictures like that.....80mph out the window is not the safest thing....but I bet you got some awesome pictures.....I can't wait to see them.

BTW, just out of curiosity, is October the 2nd a set date in stone for the mitsu meet? I was just curious if Saturday was a better day or would sunday, be okay too? just curious.

LOL...Honestly, that's not the craziest thing I've done. I can't wait to see the pics myself...Russ will be developing them for me tomorrow. (It's a great advantage having him working in a photolab!) And besides....I think we were going a little faster than 80!

And, no, the date really isn't official. Would it be better to do on Sunday? I'll have to tape my football, you know. Part of my plan is to finish the drive at a meet that's held monthly on 108th & Colorado for import cars. (Mainly High Altitude Imports members, but all are welcome.) They have their meets on the first Saturday of every month at the same location. Or I could just give ya'll the open invitation to the HAI meet, and we'll do something on the Sunday.

Also, I've been running some ideas in my head about what we can do. So I'm guaging interest...post your ideas in the other thread so that it's all in one place.

And Smokey, thanks for making me feel welcome. I had newbie flashbacks yesterday, and with ya'll being so friendly, I felt right at home!
