Is anyone in here planning on having their brembo discs cross drilled or replaced with different brenbo discs? I'm kinda suprised they didnt put cross drilled ones on there stock...

Drilling rotors should only be done if the brakes will really require that kind of cooling. Other than that, drilled brake rotors are for looks. The structural integrity of a drilled rotor is not up to par with a solid equivalent.

This isn't to say you can't use materials that reinforce teh drilled brakes that are used on some cars, but otherwise equal rotors where one is drilled and the other is not, the drilled one will be far weaker.

Not worth it if you ask me.

Drill rotors are less stable, yes, but they wont just break one day. That's only the case in extreme racing, etc, where the brakes are subject to a lot of heat and hard usage. Little cracks will appear around the holes and could crack the rotor...but i've only seen that in extreme situations. Drilling non-drilled rotors will make them less stable. Little cracks ussually show up around the holes from week 1 and get worse from there. That's why it's better to get rotors that are cast with the holes already.

I have brembo OEM replacement rotors on my car and they dont fade anymore. There's definately an improvement and I'd have to say it is worth it. It's very application specific too though. The EVO may not need drilled rotors but if your brakes arent performing as you'd like them to, you may want to consider some drilled ones. It may make an improvement.

I made this thread just to see how everyone feels about non-drilled oem brembos and if they are going to do anything.

I'm talking about highway use.

Did you notice a difference on your EVO with the slotted rotors?

Why on earth would you need drilled rotors for highway use then?

Unless you are racing nad are having brake fade issues, drilled rotors are about as funtionally useful as lighted windshield wiper fluid nozzles...

I currently use the endless grooved discs and they are pretty good. have not had any warping in the last 4-5 times I took the car on the track. OEMs warped the second time.
