I have just purchased "brake air guides" from Mitsubishi...could anyone that has installed these tell me of any snags or problems encountered with installing these items....thanks in advance

Don't they just bolt-on easily?

 

The dealer adds them as an option for $199 (assuming it's not marked up). I'm having mine installed on Tuesday and they're waiving the labor charges. I wouldn't know about any snags during install because I'll just leave that up to the dealer. My dealer was very cool about everything so far. If you're in Kentucky you should go to Sam Swope.

 

No pix..... the brackets bolt on top of the sway bar drop links and then the guides bolt to the brackets ....they cost around $120.00...not a lot for your money...but the results of them on the track I can see will be huge....I do not think these are available in the aftermarket either...unlike strut braces ect....so your only option at this point is genuine accessories..or nothing......hope this helps to all of you deciding...also bought locking wheel nuts at approx $25.00

 

I am guessing that these "guides" vent your brakes?

 

So this is different than the Venturi tunnel "splash guards" that the dealer installed on my Evo? Just curious since those channel cooling air straight to the wheel well. I'm guessing you're talking about something else entirely though - unless you've got one super-greedy dealer :P

Do the dust shields/backing plates come off and stay off for the guides to work properly?

 

No mention in the directions on removing the backing plates....the air is directed acurately into the vents at the bottom of the rotors...the cooling air then passes through the rotor and the hot air is expelled through the outside edge of the rotor....then the hot air is drawn through the spokes in the wheel...and evacuated away by the wind passing the rim...there is mention in the directions of cutting away some of the undertray to make this upgrade even more efficient...but because there is a pic of an evo 7 on the instruction sheet... I do not think these mods apply to the revised and improved 8......they just have not bothered to update the sheet

 

do you think these work better than the 2 slits in the front fender of the 7???

 

Yes ....slits in 7 are not functional...just cosmetic

 

So does the guide go inside the wheel rim? It sounds like it would from the description...
Sorry to belabor the point, but I love strong brakes, and if they help, I'm buying them!

wasn't what I was thinking...
looks like a vertical air diverter. For some reason, I was thinking that it was flat, coming from the existing air channels under the front.
