What wheels fit the VIII?

Tirerack has about 10 listed, none of which I care much for, other than the SSR Comps. Discount Tire has nothing yet. I need to get a good set of 17" rims, either to use as my primary ones for autocross race rubber, or to swap the stock rubber over to and mount the race ones on the stock wheels. Who has good info on fitment for the Evo?

Look for 17 x 8.5 +30 ~ +35MM wheels. Good ones to consider most Rays wheels gram lights, TE-37 ect, Buddy club, Black racing, Enkei, Ralliart, Yokohama there are tons of good light weight wheels that fit. What finish do you like??

Looking for gunmetal or hyperblack. Something to offset the silver car a bit. Right now its either SSR Comps in the anthracite center/polished lip of some Volk GTCs. Still looking for other options.

For hyper black check out Black Racing and Prodrive, Buddy Club.

If you want to use the wheels for autocross and stay legal for A Stock, then you need to stay with the stock width and offset (=/- .25"). Based on that, I found several wheels that looked like good candidates, but had trouble finding any that were actually available. My first choice was the 5Zigen FN01R, but couldn't find anyone who advertised it on the web who could actually get it for me in any reasonable time frame. My second choice was the Racing Hart CP-035, but again I had trouble finding it in my size. Next was the Volk TE37, and I thought I had a lock on a set of those in Mercury Silver, but those didn't pan out either. Right now, I supposedly have a set of gunmetal Volk LE28Ns on the way. I have not actually seen a picture of these, but supposedly they are the same as the CE28N, but with a polished lip. I also looked at the Weds TC005 and Buddy Club P1 QF, but was told the Buddy Club wheel would not clear our calipers. As you may or may not have noticed, all of the wheels I mentioned are forged and weigh no more than 15 lbs or so. It looks like Enkei has a couple of cast wheels that are reasonably lightweight and much cheaper, but I didn't research those that much.

As for vendors, I ended up ordering through Chris at http://www.speedalliance.com/ , but I would check out http://www.wheeloptions.com/ too. They actually gave me a better price on the LE28N, but I for some reason (sleep deprivation I think - 2 month old and a 2 year old in the house) I went with speedalliance...

I am going to ESP for autocrossing, so going to a slightly wider wheel would actually work better. Some Khumho 245/45 V700s on a set of 8-1/2" wide rims looks to be optimal for traction. Thats why I am looking seriously at the SSRs, as they are about the lightest rim out there.

What is the bolt pattern for the evo?

Anyone have specs on how much the stock wheels weigh?

Thanks!

Stock wheel and tires weights around 45 lbs. PCD is 5/114.3 . Those SSR wheels are nice but little pricey if your only using them for racing only. Another option would be Black Racing which would be cheaper and very light weight also.

I think the problem with the Buddy Club wheels is the same problem with the SSR Comps, they have clearance issues if you want/need to stick with the stock size. I am guessing the Buddy Club wheels would fit fine if you go to an 8.5" rim, as apparently do the SSR Comps. If I was going to ESP, I would probably do 8.5" too, hope I don't regret my decision to stay in AS later...

I'm got a set of wider rims on order. My solution is to use the stock rims for AS and use the wider ones if I go to ESP. I'll just swap the race rubber w/the street tires.

2 cool here are the Buddy Club P-1 Racing QF wheels on a EVO8 the 17 x 8 +35 will weight 13.55 lbs and the SSR weights in at 14.3 lbs. The Prodrive GS-05A 17 x 8 will weight more because it isn't forged.

Advan RCII 18x9.5 wheels fit!

According to the Japan Advan wheels website Advan RCII 18x9.5 wheels fit!

18x9.5
5x114.3
35mm offset
245/40R/18

Okay I have seen pics of them on a few cars but do they actually work without rubbing??? That is the question. If so I will have a set of these soon!
