Buying an EVO soon, shopping wheels.

Hello all,

New here, but not new to cars like this. Just came out of 5 years worth of two Subarus (an '03 WRX and an '04 STi) and am making the plunge into the "dark side".

In any case, I'm getting my research down before I actually go and buy the car so I'm shopping wheel options at the moment.

I have a sponsorship already with Enkei so I'm planning on running RC-T4s in either 18x9 +35 or 18x9.5 +30. I'd like to run a 275 series tire either way I go, I just don't want to do a ton of body work (*cough* voltex fenders *cough*) in order to do it.

What setup will work best for the EVO?

To begin with - the 'darkside' is the subie side! That's what I've always read, and I've owned both. lol.

You'll have to roll fenders to stuff a 275 tire and nearly any 9.5" rim. Note not all; but a majority. I've heard it's not that big of a deal, but I'm not into it.

A lot of people run 255 w/o issues, including myself, even on lowered cars. I guess depends how big you want to go...

I like meaty tires. I ran 245/40R18's on my STi with 18x8 +45 rims. Never had a problem with rubbing even though everyone told me I should have.

I don't mind fender rolling. I just want meat without going to a full-on widebody.

Where can I get the RC-T4’s in the sizes quoted above?

So, what's the consensus. Will 18x9.5 +30 fit fine?

That's what she said!

The 18 x 9, +35 should fit fine, but 275s are probably too wide for that width wheel.

There are quite a few people here running wheels sized with similar offsets to the other size you're talking about (18 x 9.5, +30) with rolling the rear fenders. I've seen 255s and the occasional 265, but 275 is a lot of meat, so I'm not sure with that. But keep the front in mind also. Sometimes spoke designs may or may not clear our front brakes. That's what becomes an issue there. Spacers may have to be used.

I'm in the same situation. I have a set of CEs on order - 18 x 9.5, +28 planning to run 265s. I hope things work with just a rear fender roll.

BTW … on choosing the RC-T4. Sick wheels!

Everything I've heard said the RC-T4 should fit in both sizes without spacers, the question is how the tires will fit. +30 might just be too aggressive for what I'm looking for. As much as I love the idea of a 275 series tire, I might just go ahead with a 255 or 265 and not worry about it so much.

I hear you. The tires will be cheaper, too!
