Anyone use steelies for the winter?

I was looking to find a cheap set of steel wheels to throw quality winter tires on. I honestly don't care how they look as long as they can take the abuse of snow and salt and whatnot. I'd like to leave the stock BBS's and Advans together and just garage them instead of switching tires on the same rims b/w seasons. Has anyone managed to find something to that effect? I remember on my old GSX I just went one size down to 16'' steelies and threw a set of Blizzaks on them. I can't seem to find anyone who has done this with the EVO though. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Good luck finding a set of steelies that will clear the brembos in the front.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Might just be easier to find some rough 8 or 9 rims - then they will fit 100% and have no issues with the brakes. A good set goes for $400 - so some rashed, chipped paint ones should be cheaper. Then in the summer you can have 2 sets of tires - one race/summer and one daily driving. (you could always paint the winter set to a different color or OE...)

Yeah that was my whole point of having 2 sets of wheels. Having to lug all that crap back and forth from a tire shop with every season change is annoying as hell. I didn't want to spend a lot on a set of 'rims' for the winter considering I don't even care what they look like. It's basically there just to hold the tire on, lol. I won't skimp on rubber, but the wheels I couldn't care less about. I guess it's time to dig around for some used 17s that might have cosmetic defects but are still functional. Anyone have a set they're willing to part with for cheap? Hee hee.

Jrod from BR? Not familiar with him/her. Any chance you could somehow get me in touch with that person?
