Heat cycled tires..worth it?

Thinking about buying hoosier tires and spending extra $ to get them heat-cycled? Any experience on whether they're worth it and makes difference?

Thx

when i buy race tires i use them till they show cords to get my moneys worth.. the way i see it.. if you want to pay someone to use the tires you just bought... hrm... doesnt go good in my book...

i beleive heat cycling and shaving is only ment for pretty much race cars and timeattack cars who dont need to have practice and who want the best of the tire now not worrying on how long they will ast...

Heat cycling should give the tire a bit longer life as in it shouldn't age out as fast as a non heat cycled tire. However, you can heat cycle them but slowly getting them up to operating temperature, taking them off your car and not using them at the track for at least 24 hours.

If you are planning to eat through the rubber in a short amount of time, I doubt heat cycling will help too much. For the A6 tires, they claim the initial heat cycle is not too important, but the cure time is. For more details: https://www.hoosiertire.com/rrtire.htm.

Personally I would pay for this service on road race compounds (R6), and probably not on the autox compound (A6).

+1.
I see heat-cycling and shaving done for pretty much the same reasons. To get the tire into it's optimum level of grip right away. You'll have less overall life for shaving, but in both cases (heat-cycling and shaving) this should help the tires wear more evenly and not 'chunk'
