Tuning impact on Canadian Emissions

Hey guys, I tried searching for this topic and didn't find anything.
Was wondering if any Canadian EVO X owners had any idea how far they could tune their cars before they won't be able to pass our emissions tests. I understand that many aftermarket parts come with an "off-road only" disclaimer, but I was curious how far we could go (Stage 1, Stage 2, etc). Or are you planning to de-mode for the test and then mode again...
Thanks in advance for the input.

Are there even any emission tests that you have to do with your cars in Canada? I'm sure here in Alberta there isn't any, but I'm not too sure about out east.

for quebec its still a question of when there going to pass the law like calif,
3 other canadain provinces are actully going with quebec ,
so saying that
stage 1 wouldnt even be possible many reasons the main one would be taking the cat out ,
and then there manucipal laws that come in effeced in most towns in canada that stat that if your exhasut tip is a serten size they can give you a 24 hr notice to get it changed with a 250 $ fine ......

Why would it be a problem... They most likely will just hook the car up to the OBDII port and call it a day... .

But if they turn into California style that would be insane... but I don't see that happening.

I live in Ontario, and after a car is over maybe 5 years old it has to go through emissions testing every other year in order to renew the plates.
Are there any owners from Ontario who have modded their cars that can comment on this...

I wouldnt worry about it, even with a tune (which typically doesnt affect cruising and normal driving),intake, exhaust and a high flow cat your car should pass emissions. Its only an idle test because its AWD so that makes it even easier.

Just make sure you have a cat and you'll be fine.

BTW I dont live in Ontario any more but I have owned many modded cars including a modded SR20 240SX and DSM that passed emissions.

well, stage one you can just remove the tune and then you're stock again... stage 2 you just put the cat back in and remove the tune to pass... that said, I'd be more worried about voiding your warranty with modding!
