Post Free (or almost) 'Except-for-labor' Mods

I was wondering what all kinds of mods you guys have come across for little to no monetary amount for the X. If this thread is a bust, mods, feel free to close it. I've utilized the search function and come across a few interesting things but I'm positive there is more out there. I was hoping to centralize them. I'm not a seasoned veteran on the tuner modding front nor do I have an endless amount of money to spend like some do. So little things get me some fun and experience without going broke. I also know theres plenty more like me out there.

A few I've read about...

- Weight reduction. Everything from spare tire removal to head-rest.
- Removal of Boost Pill to attain different boost levels.
- Removal of the restrictor pill in the clutch for a more 'grabby' clutch.

What else do you guys have for cheap or easy mods I can tackle? Get more for less. Was hoping to make this serve as a kind of 'Vets-help-new-guys' with some cool easier task.

Ummm, we don't have a throttle cable...

To the OP:

It all depends on your skill level and the tools you have. Doing porting work on your exhaust manifold, turbine housing (hot side of turbo), and turbo outlet elbow (used to be O2 housing on DSM's) is a great place to gain power if you have a die grinder and a steady hand. You can also do your intake manifold, but aluminum is much softer, so it is easier to screw it up than cast steel.

Also, getting the tractrix cable and ECUflash will give you the ability to use the free base flashes available from Bryan at GST. I assume he has base flashes for the EVO X as well as the Ralliarts available since until this week he didn't own a Ralliart

Good luck,

Keith

isn't there wastgate mod where you just turn the nut a few turns.

disclaimer: i wouldn't recommend altering the boost system without a proper tune. will it make you go faster? yes. will it blow up? maybe eventually .

Couple of turns on the wastegate, boost "pill," crush the top of your BOV, ghetto cone filter, maybe fabricate your own UICP (can you weld?) and if you go that route (with welding, etc) why not do a single exit exhaust as well?

Then, as others have said, an OTS tune using the Tactrix cable...

take the stupid covers off on bottom of heat extractors on hood, remove brake dust shields, if you have an MR, the fogs MUST come off
please note: only beneficial to track junkies
