windshield costs $1500!!!!!!

has any1 else ever had to replace their windshields. I have a 2009 lancer and my little brother had a star on the windshield which later turned into a full crack thats nearly reaches halfway across.

i was told it cost that much because the car (2009 GTS lancer with the navi and sub package) comes with rain sensor. I never dealt with a car that has that so isn't it possible to just put on a regular windshield. i doubt that the actual sensor is put into the glass....

but if im mistaken i really would like someone to inform me of whats up with the rain sensor on the front windshield. thanks in advance.

if you have a star, just get it filled. way cheaper and works very well. I used the self repair kit, but there are places that will do it professionally.

That wont work when theres a crack that reaches halfway across.

Most insurance carriers will cover glass. Check with them. I'm sure the deductible is less than $1500...

Most states cover front windshields for free, there is NO deductible for windshields. Just call your agent and verify it.

I had my front windshield replaced. That price sounds pretty accurate. I went through my insurance and pay my deductible of $250. GL.

What is a rain sensor? haha

Anyways, wow. My friend just replaced his windshield since he left a small crack alone and eventually he had a full horizontal line from left to right and another that was halfway. Paid his deductible and that was it but it was on an early model cobalt

in AZ glass replacement comes w/ full coverage. Never have to pay for windshields. Just ask for glass coverage.

I had my windshield replaced on my old '09. I had the work done by a local place. It set me back about $250, but the guy did a really good job so it was worth it. As for the rain sensor, this is part of that "rain sensing wipers" package that's a factory option. I don't know how this would affect the windshield. I didn't even know that the sensor would be installed in the glass itself.
