WOW! How much power are you putting down? How are you driving the car?

Anyone have any updates as of late on their mileage? I just picked up a 2014 with 25k miles. Just want to see who is having the best results lasting longest.

Currently at 102k km, had to replace the transmission again due to a sealant issue at 90k km, not due to any mechanical issues. Has a basic tune since the transmission replacement it's going strong (as you would expect from it being brand new)

157,500km on my 2009 RA. The original SST is still going strong!

A few observations and notes...
  • I have a temperature sensor controlled fan on the transmission cooler, and removed the foglamps a long time ago - for better airflow.
  • My ECU tune has its various requested torque modifiers tweaked to minimise clutch slip.
  • I've only ever used Mitsubishi Dia-Queen SST Fluid in it.
  • When I first got the car, I changed the SST fluid and filter every 20,000km, but over time I've extended that. These days, I change the fluid every 40,000km, and change the filter every 80,000km.
  • Car is tuned to produce a modest 280awhp or thereabouts.
Cheers,

Rich

Just bought my 08 MR in Canada with 146000KM/90000Miles waiting on some transmax dual fluid to do a change. I believe its on the original transmission. But it does make a weird noise when not engaged. Could be the 08 Input spline tolerance or Torque damper. But no noise when transmission is no in neutral and engaged. Shifts are still Crisp. I believe the last time Fluids were changed was at around 80000km from carfax it showed it was at the dealer.

Before you put in anything but Mitsubishi Diaqueen SST Fluid in please do some research and decide if you want to be a guinea pig who tests a different fluid. Some people get along fine some don't. If the carfax says the dealer did a fluid change it should have Diaqueen in it now so you could compare if the Castrol makes it shift worse or just put Diaqueen in and not worry about ruining your SST.

I'm not sure how using castrol would make it worst. I'm waiting on Castrol Transmax Dual / Bot341. Fluid which is exactly the same as diaqueen but labeled for a different market. Unless my information for the fluid is wrong. The oil is long over due if it was done 65000km ago. My preferred oil interval for this transmission would be 25000km for oil and 12500km for filters.

That aside do people most elog for tunes? And who are the main tuners for sst trans?

Thanks a bundle for any helpful information.

2009 RA - im at 106k and have been at or over the torque limits of the tranny since 20k miles. It is still holding up strong but I maintain it and I don't beat on it too much. I've used Pentosin and Diaqueen the entire time for fluid.

As a follow-up how many are doing yearly diaqueen changes? I just recently noticed that this was the recommendation on Evoscan as of 2019. This seems excessive to me but he's the expert, but, never heard of such frequent changes on the fluid like that. Also, how many people are doing frequent teach-ins? It's also stated on Evoscan do one every 6 months. My ACD Pump did go out on me and I was lucky enough to get a dealership to replace it under warranty after one dealership refused. My car was tuned by Aaron from English Racing in, I believe, the summer of 2014, and the intention was to tune for reliability not for power.

I also stopped reading the fourms because it causes anxiety and freaks me out about the things I should be doing on my car, I guess I'm just trying to focus on more important things and stick to what is absolutely the most important and follow the extreme maintenance intervals set by Mitsubishi. Maybe this will come back to bite me though.

My car is fairly low miles, only 43,000 i've had two things happen to mine - got stuck in 2nd gear in Oct 31 2018 (shutting the car off then back on resolved that) and in Feb 2019 for 3 days I had a service trans warning but it would turn off after only a minute or so. That's the only issue I've ever had. I've done one fluid change at about 15,000 miles.

Regardless, I want this car to last as long as possible and also would like to prevent from very expensive repair bills.

I had some concerns after my car was tuned and I had someone look at my export and it was pointed out that my timing was dangerously high, but my engine has not blown up so maybe it's okay in all these years since my concerns and since the tune was done?

Just yesterday I purchased evoscan and I was trying to export some logs but I am not sure what i'm doing, I also cannot get my AEM Uego to output anything to Evoscan, so I don't know if I have the time to investigate it much and figure it out, but I'm trying to get back into this a little and as I have time I'll try and see if I can figure it out.

92,520 miles (333 AWD HP). Just started hearing the notorious rattle from the springs. Fluid swapped every 25k. Due for a swap now. (2013 MR).

107K on stock power before dreaded 4th gear magnet failure. Tracked a bunch. Set fastest laps with a gimped tranny.

Rebuilt with Dodson Sportsman in preparation for a power bump.
