i actually tried the launch control on the way home from school. its really not that bad. i got it on first try, i think for it to be liable in track racing you would have to be really good at timing and be able to launch it on every run. i think with a little practice you can train yourself to have the best launch, every launch.

Went to the drag strip on Friday. Did 4 runs and launch control worked fine each time. Minimum time between runs was 20 min. In between runs, hood was open with engine off to cool. Pushed car through staging lanes to avoid having trans generate heat. I did not push throttle down until tree lights started to go. Kind of annoying, but it seems to be as it has been sugested that the launch control is a no go if the trans is hot.

Just came back from trying the launch control. Took me 3 times to get it right. My problem was that I was slowly pressing the gas peddal to build the revs to the 5k mark. First 2 times I did it slowly and it gave me the "slow down" sign.

3rd time was the charm. Just mashed the throttle, it hit the 5k rev mark, let go of the brake and off I went. Not as harsh as I thought it would be but not too shaby. Will say that on my 3rd go, once I hit 4th gear, the small section of my UICP (AMS one) blew right out of the rubber coupling and lost all boost.

Now I gota see wat the hell went wrong with the pipe...

Yeah my first time I was afraid to mash the throttle. The only way it works is to mash it. I thought the RPM's would jump up too fast for me to step off the brake at 5K but it is really pretty darn easy. Doesn't seem to be hard on the car at all. It certainly isn't a violent affair. The car doesn't even make any funny noises. There is just a slight pause and then all of the sudden you are moving forward very quickly :-)

I've launched my car probably a dozen times and never had it fail on me. The only thing I've had happen was the "SLOW DOWN" message a couple of times. But it always launches...

How is this possible. Every time I have gotten the slow down message while in launch control mode, when I release the brake, the clutch refuses to engage and the car just sits there.

Are you holding the traction control button down clear until it gives you the big warning? I got the slow down my first time, but that was because I didn't mash the throttle. I just put my left foot on the left edge of the brake, floor the gas, wait until it gets to 5K and slide my foot off the brake to the left. You can't let it sit at 5K for even a couple of seconds. You kind of have to anticipate the 5k mark and just slide your foot off. It really is pretty easy if you do all this.

I know how to launch the car. I'm not sure you understood the question. My question was how does the car launch while it is giving you the slow down? When mine gives me the "slow down" warning, it won't launch until I have lifted off the gas, and let the car find idle, at wich point the "slow down" goes away, and the car will launch, or give me the finger, whichever is the case.
I am also not sure what you mean by holding down the traction control button.

Hold the traction control button down for at least 5-10 seconds until you get a warning on the center screen, not just the normal traction control off light.

Don't know what to tell you about the slow down thing. I got that once but it was just because I wasn't flooring the throttle.

I did 3 launches last night with my newly remapped ECU and didn't have any problems.

This is whith the trans in s-sport mode? What does holding the button in until you get the warning do? I have been launching the car in s-sport mode simply by pressing the brake, then pushign the throttle all the way down at the appropriate time. I have gotten the slow down for a couple of reasons I think, but until I see a logic chart for that message, Im not going to say for sure, other than holding it in lc for to long makes it unhappy.

Yes do it in S-sport mode. Supposedly holding the Traction control button down longer turns it off more than just pushing it once. Who knows, but it works for me.
