SSP Clutch Pack Install
SSP Clutch Pack Install
I want to buy the upgraded clutch pack but the price for the labor is more then the cluch packs itself by far...Can anyone help me with where I can get a reasonable price for labor.. I live in socal...
Well since the clutch pack is still a bit new and there are not that many shops that have messed with a SST, it will be very difficult to find a reasonable price. While I was at Jotech Motorsports in Dallas, I asked about the install $$ and it was definitely not cheap.

If you look at the pictures of the clutches compared to the stock ones, its not hard to see how they get more grabbing power. They have more friction contact area. Also according to Kris at SSP, the steels are more aggressive. I know that the shifts got a lot tighter, even before I did any clutch table adjustments. Once I have the cars engine at full potential, we can start really abusing the clutches. Unfortunately this got put on the back burner by a couple of weeks due to another project that is taking priority.
I think $1150 is a great price compared to what I've been quoted $1700-2600 but if they do a great job with no hiccups after the install then I think it's worth it. I just don't want to be the guinea pig and pay those prices.
Yeah, I don't think they have done an MR but they have done plenty of GTRs. They had a GTR on a lift next to my car getting the clutchs + turbos. Gwaadd that car is amazing lol
you're better off spending the money elsewhere for now .. like making sure the gearbox runs cool ..
The stock clutches are pretty capable of holding up to 500hp easy with no problems ..
The reason why aftermarket 'feels' better because the adjustment point is now off .. and the TCU still thinks it is stock clutch .. every shift 'feels' more positive .. hehe .. because the it is using the original setting .. the engagement point is off .. I would say more jerky would be the right word ..
