My MR does this as well. I took it to the dealer for the 45000 mile maintanence and they said nothing was wrong. I just dropped it off for the 50000 mile maintanence and got the service guy to ride with me to show him what it was doing. Well I left it there for a day, and I get a call saying the Mitsubishi techs say its the transmission fluid so I have to wait a week for them to special order it to see if that works. I honestly do not see the fluid fixing it but I will just have to wait and see.

Update.. The local dealership just got the fluid in. I asked about the filter, they said there wasnt one. However, something throw a flag while they were straining the fluid. They are now replacing the whole trans. Bad news is, there is a waiting list/back order on them. It could be sooner but its looking like it will be Oct. 18 or after. They told me it is ok to drive short distances but not long trips.

My car does the same thing, relative to lightly, lightly touching the gas in first (w/ Manual Sport). If I were to take an educated guess (being an educated man, haha), it goes a little something like this:
When the tranny is set to sport mode its expecting a more aggressive rev from the engine. But instead we give it a tiny bump (like when in a parking lot, driveway, etc). So for the briefest of moments the All Controlling TCU has to switch on the fly the parameters in which its told to behave. Once in second its gone. Reminds me of my tuned N/A scoobie, the car was expecting a specific volume of air, when MUCH MUCH less was introduced it had to re-adjust. I believe that is what we are experiencing, but to be sure we would need to dyno test this. I'm willing to bet the car is expecting a larger, faster volume of air, thereby creating more power. When this turns out to be considerable less, it has to correct itself.
Any thought/ideas??

Mines doing the same thing. Started a couple weeks ago. I'm at 29k miles and yet to change the tranny fluid. i'm hoping that the fluid change will fix it.

more updates.. I dropped my car off two weeks ago tomorrow. They got the tranny in with no problems. Since then it has thrown at least 5 different codes. I have yet to get it back from the dealership. They are talking about bringing in an engineer to look at it. To date they have around 14k including labor in it. Changed tranny, timing chain, timining gears, and 2 positioning sensors. It is now throwing codes p0014 and p0016 i think? its for the vvt system on intake and exhaust. Hopefully I will have good news tomorrow. The HHR and Caliber they gave me as rentals just isnt cutting it. lol

Did they tell you what the actual issue was? Was it the tranny? Timing chain or Timing gears etc..? Seems like they changed the tranny first and still had issues (the same issue?).

I doubt that every part that they replaced was actually defective? They might have took the "keep replacing parts till its fixed" route. Which is fine if the dealer is paying for all the repairs.

But I'm modded and I'm not going to flash the car back to stock, put back on the stock exhaust etc.. and lie to the dealer. I knew what I was getting into when I modded so I accept the fact that if the tranny broke (weather it was mod related or not), that it would be on me. It's just that I don't want the dealer to throw parts at it at my expense. If its the tranny that I need to replace? So be it. Looks like I'll be giving SSP a call if it is the tranny.

My car shuddered real bad yesterday while accelerating from a standstill going up hill. I have to figure out exactly what it is to minimize the damage.

Thanks

So had anybody looked more into this issue? Is the only solution to this to have the transmission replaced?
