P1808
I picked up my MR-T from WORKS today, I ended up installing a new SST gearbox ($$$), an SSP cooler, and an SSP deep sump. I chose to retain the OEM clutch packs and fill with OEM Diaqueen fluid.
I am very pleased with the work done by WORKS Motorsports but disappointed in their lack of timeliness and misinformation during the repairs, no way should this have taken over three months to complete!
While the SST was out I had them install a BBX turbo and AEM "Widemouth" DP and I asked for a conservative 91 octane tune; the car runs great! Spikes at 28 psi and holds 25 psi to 7500 rpms, it "only" made 348 hp on WORKS dyno but it feels every bit as fast as my 370 hp (different dyno) E85 tune on the stock turbo
! Launch control works perfectly as before and I have little doubt it will run low 12's as it sits and high 11's with an E85 tune, time will tell.
The BBX does feel sluggish compared to the stock turbo at part throttle (tip in) below 3000 rpm's but this is no biggie, it does not affect racing and and if in sport/auto mode it's only noticeable when making a standing start; changed right foot technique solves this problem is only noticeable when making a standing start if and it can probably be tuned out. Also I am getting a bit poorer gas milage (I actually expected better milage) but this also can be tuned out I Hope.
For the last three months I have used the Honda S2000 as my DD and this car is no slouch in the "fun to drive" category but I had forgotten just how sweet the Evo X MR was! The Evo wins the "fun to drive" from the Honda no contest, the MR is the only car I have owned that has me inventing places to drive just for the fun of it when I am not busy.

HE is LUCKY alot of these guys just want to get back into their cars and get on with life ..
TIPPY Yours was the 1st publicly posted issue noticed by getrag .. YES .. they are also curious about this wonder oil that is better than their multimillion testing on their selected choice ..
The crappy blue oil failed alot of the factory tests .. this was the results sent to me.. This is a truncated message which basically confirms what alot of us FELT when 1st using the oil .. the rest was too technical and I had to consult engineering to figure out what they said

we made some test with the new oil which is mineral oil based (because it is much cheaper than the current one, which is 100% synthetic). The viscosity is about 15% less at 100°C than the current stock oil and 10% higher viscosity at -30°C. For the clutch, this oil behaves better, also efficiency is better for the whole trans, but:
Hydraulic leakage is worse under hot conditions, can affect some diagnostics causing timing problems ie , shifting , engagements, pressure spikes ..
Hydraulic leakage is worse under hot conditions, can affect some diagnostics causing timing problems ie , shifting , engagements, pressure spikes ..
worst still was a few other things found in my gearbox oil sample that puzzled the tester ..
BRAND new oil was found with sediments that indicated poor refinement process ..
Oil has too large a variation in stability when temperature is increased to 100C
Gearbox oil had traces of water in it (had my previous diaqueen tested too and nothing bad was reported)
A local dealer, who shall remain nameless unless he tells me he wants to get involved in this brouhaha, (bad for business) , has several SST’s with temp sensor failure using aftermarket fluid (not necessarily Willall), MMSA has refused to replace on warrantee thus far. He has not seen this type of failure on SST’s running OEM…yet.
Away with you DR Jeckle! No more Mr nice guy!

Well.. your post came after Tippy .. and my emails went out before Tippy .. I was directed to Tippy's post also .. at that point .. I experienced 5 cases already .. subsequently .. it went up to 9 .. then tippy and you joined in the fray .. currently .. the toll (KNOWN) stands at 19
.. SAME thing with the SAME oil ..Even a kid can put 2 and 2 together ..
As for the mineral base oil .. well .. I can only infer that Getrag meant the BASE STOCK oil was mineral .. so in EFFECT its a SEMI SYN instead of FULLY SYN ??

I wouldn't say who is fibbing .. I can only claim one guy has vested interest in telling half truths ??..

I read "first" as "only", sorry. I missed my afternoon nap

I had this problem one morning. I started my car, letting it warm up, not even moved it out of park and it told me to slow down
