Differences Between 2008 and 2010 Trannys (less chances of overheats?)
I was speaking with a tuner that said the 2010+ SST transmissions have less chances of overheating in comparison to the 2008 models. But he says the reason for this is not because of mechanical changes... but simply because Mitsubishi raised the "warning temperature" at which you get the SLOW DOWN message and the car limits the transmission.
Is this true??? If so... is it possible to change the settings on the 2008/2009 models so it isn't so sensitive in regards to throwing the SLOW DOWN message?

I wonder if that was smart, though, by "lowering" the standard for the '10s with regard to heat. Frankly I'd almost want to go with the '08 setting on my '10 and then do the cooling mods. Better reliability. If Slow Down comes at a lower temp setting, it's saving the tranny.
Depends on how much the set point was changed from the 08/09 trans I guess. If it was just a few degrees, no biggie. Also, it could be the designers set the original set point wrong in the software in the first place and it took two years to figure out the issue.
Who knows.
