concern at start up

sometimes when i start the car there is a noise from the tranny, almost like its engaging. i can hear it and feel it. is this normal? doesn't always happen.

sounds like the same thing mine does, also only sometimes. idk if it's normal but i've had the car for 37k miles and haven't had any issues with it at all.

Yes, I believe the transmission disengages and then actuates the parking pawl when you turn off the engine. After engine startup, it re-engages with the clutches open. I hear a bit of shifting activity after starting too. And sometimes the car even jerks forward slightly which I find a bit disconcerting (there's another thread about that).

I forgot to mention the car does feel like it moves a little. That is the same thing im experiencing. Do you know if its normal? It is disconcerting

It is a bit disconcerting to me and probably induces a bit of clutch wear or just some torque transmitted through the wet clutch system. I think quite a few people have experienced this though. Do you get it all the time? On my car I'd say it's probably one out of four times or so.

seems to happen more on cold starts. not too often but enough to have concern
