Wrong transmission. The Evo X MR has the 6DCT470 TRANSMISSION not the 6DCT450 TRANSMISSION.

http://www.getrag.de/en/234

The 6DCT470 TRANSMISSION is rated 470nm max torque.

Its 470nm or 346 lb/ft at the crank...which is a max of around 290 to the wheels. And it is Electronically limited to that and will go into limp mode to protect itself.

Which means I probably will have to think twice (at least sleep on it) about picking up my car i just bought on Friday. I'm sure in time there will be an upgrade but I bet it will cost a fortune.

I also have a problem paying 41k for a car that can be beaten by a 23k Cobalt SS.

Wow that sucks!

No problem, I remember d-sport magazine doing a tune and test where they added three basic bolt ons (two of which are maintenance, i.e. air filter and switching to synthetic oil, along with exhaust) and they got 300 whp on the EVO X.
http://www.dragsport.com/issue/2008/..._article.shtml

Not bad. Adding the synthetic added 7-8 hp at the wheels, :eek: and the drop in filter added 15 to the wheels. {thumbup}

Not a bad idea to get an MR, switch to synthetic and a high flow filter, and add 23 hp to the wheels, all in warranty with basic maintenance items and no transmission hick-ups. {thumbup}

Many cars would be hard pressed to find those kind of gains and make power so easy. :mitsu:

^^The X already comes stock with Mobil 1 which is fully synthetic oil. They just switched to Royal Purple synthetic.

Yeah at this stage I'm not sure it's a huge worry, and worst case you can always find a way to limit boost in the 3500-5000 range so that you reduce the largest surge of torque from hitting the SST transmission. That would still let you keep the top end pull of a larger turbo and most of the performance benefits. :)

Actually D7 and i think a few other people with MR have reported the SST going into limp mode for overheating, and they can't get on it. Have to wait for it to cool down.

OMG does that ever look like a VW DSG trans:eek: :eek: :eek:
