Question Car Got Louder After a Beating?

I know that this is not logical, but it is no doubt true. I recently tracked my car for the first time at Lime Rock Park. Needless to say it took a good beating all day long. By the end of the day the car was noticably louder. The car was loud to begin with the Buschur Exhaust and JDM muffler, but now it is not suitable for the street. Anyone with similiar experiences or an explanation?

exhaust leak? tracking your car stresses everything far more then it will ever see on the street, so obviously if there was a weak weld or a clamp not on tight, or a flage not pressed together right, you will have a much louder exhaust. turn the car and and listen to where the sound is coming from, i'm guessing most likely from under the car somewhere. of course all this is assuming that you are refering to loud exhaust, not engine noise like cams or injector noise...

Nope. Just louder out the tailpipe. No leaks anywhere. The only thing that I could think of was that maybe the JDM muffler uses some type of insulation to deaden the sound and maybe I blew some of that out. I really have no idea.

I think you're on the right path. Another possibility is that you might have blown a baffel of some type.

The fiberglass packing degrades over time and with excessive heat. After tracking it, it will get louder as the f/g packing degrades a bit.
